All I do drink is water and herbal teas. And eat gluten free, organic , everything from scratch diet (for past 12 years). I think I may one of those people who don't methylate/detox--? That is what a naturopath is telling me . I'm wondering if these detox and gluten sensitivity problems existed before the lyme, or if they were caused by the Bb infection? I never had such problems until I got Lyme. Developing Lyme takes time, so one can never really pinpoint when the gut/detox trouble started. I can imagine the gut gets damaged from antibiotics, and damaging the galbladder with rocephin will also create problems down the road. But I have heard others who had these problems already before they started ABX treatment. I was eating pretty healthy before I got ill, and never had any problems with gluten, carbs or whatever - I am not 'allergic' now, but if I eat normal bread for a few days or weeks, my gut starts to protest. Similar issues with carbs etc.

But I would be interested to know if there is some more solid cause/effect info. Maybe leaky gut is a pre-existing condition for Lyme because it impacts the gut and the immune system? And I can imagine ABX makes things worse ...
Guest guest
My gluten problem was definitely due to Lyme because I never took abx for it. I never had an issue with my gut until the Lyme showed up. deb > > > Is leaky gut caused by Lyme or a side effect of antibiotic treatment? > > for sure there are other causes than just these.
