Guest guest
, my doctor plans to put me on Dorex [not sure if that's the right way it's spelled]. He says it's a good abx for the nervous system. Might want to ask about that one. Kate Re: [ ] Re: My Lyme “success story †Is there another ABX other than rocephin that will penetrate the nervous ystem? I had a reaction to rocephin way back. thanks be well, tacy On Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 5:04 AM, knot_weed <tek0nik@...> wrote: > > My only recourse if I still test positive after 8 months or a year is > to go on long term IV antibiotics. I don't think IV ABX is a good idea except for acute infections, or if you have special gut problems. There are oral ABX that have penetration in the nervous system similar to IV ABX like rocephin. IV has some additional risks (from the PICC lines etc.) and of course much higher cost. Don't rely too much on the tests, except if it is a Western Blot with multiple specific positive bands for both IgG and IgM. The test is at best a historical record that does not reflect the actual situation regarding Bb infection. I suggest to continue Buhner protocol, and if you feel your symptoms get worse (or do not improve) maybe add oral ABX to the protocol. Guest guest
I have been on doryx for little over two months. It's one of the first oral abx my stomach can tolerate. I'm also on plaquenel (?sp)...same, little stomach problems. I've done two rounds (3 months and 6 months) IV meds because my stomach is so bad on orals. I've had bad herx on doryx. My neuro symptoms aren't better but we just tested for heavy metals and found off the chart lead, high cadmium and mercury. This is probably also causing the neuro issues. I've done buhner on and off with good herx but didn't get better. I'm sure now the high metal toxicity is what's keeping me from getting better from buhner or abx. Sorry for going off on a tangent there. Doryx I think can be a good abx and agree from everything I read and my DO says you need a high dosage.
