Is anyone taking garlic to bust up biofilms? If so in what form? I know it

has wonderful anti-inflammatory properties. Does cooking degrade its

effectiveness?

Garlic is a biofilm buster due to its blocking of quorum sensing, and it does

get into the bloodstream. Theoretically flagyl etc. could also help against Bb

biofilms, because it activates the Bb prophage; with many bacteria such

prophages disturb the biofilm. I don't think there is any agent that has a

proven effect on lyme biofilm, it is all experimental.

Heat kills it...that is why raw best and pills are questionable.:(

the active ingredient for blocking quorum sensing is Allicin; you will see the

most benefit when chopping up the raw garlic and taking it right away without

cooking. Allicin seems to be volatile which probably explains while most of it

disappears when heated. But not everyone can take garlic this way (can cause

burns); probably the freeze dried tables are a good alternative.

Garlic works against many types of bacterial/fungal infections; many types of

micro-organisms form biofilms in the body, and allicin disturbs this biofilm

formation.
