I went to a holistic dr., to help w/the c diff, > (the mainstream dr's wanted to keep me on flagyl/vancomycin I was on it > for mo's, it made me sicker). that is very similar to my experience. In my country hospitals etc. don't give any advice on probiotics and other supplements for ABX (they didn't even use Actigal with Rocephin to prevent gal bladder problems). I also think this was a major factor in being sicker in many ways after the antibiotics. I started using probiotics after about half a year of ABX, too late I guess. Two years later (without ABX) my gut is still not normal and I have to stick to a mostly glutenfree, lowcarb diet. I have been underweight from when the Lyme started, still very skinny and nothing helps to gain weight Taking a good mix of probiotics should help, many commercial products contain just a few types of bacteria. My guess is that natural products like Kefir (contains many different species of micro-organisms, not just bacteria) should work better, but it requires more attention.
