Guest guest
Although i didn't think it would happen, i have developed " capsule fatigue " in terms of the time, cost, and bother (and often pain when they get stuck in my throat) of taking so many capsules, along with a huge number of supplements, three times a day. (I can't imagine doing it four!) Thinking that skipping some of the capsules and doing a mixed powder instead might be preferable, i bought a precision .01 gram digital scale and tried this approach for the first time today. It was a little rocky, to say the least, so i would really appreciate any tips from those of you foregoing the capsules that you'd like to share. I'm particularly interested in knowing: --your techniques for weighing doses (i think mine's good, but i'm curious if other's vary) --whether you make up a lot of individual doses in advance --what you mix the powdered herbs into. I'm trying this for the cat's claw, stephania, and japanese knotweed. I am NOT doing andrographis loose. That one i'll save for my own encapsulating or the commerical herb/extract version. Just too bitter to deal with. The others are challenging enough to disguise, with sarsparilla being a nice exception to that rule. Thanks! Guest guest
Both capsules and spoons are filled by volume not weight, so it won't make any difference. the only thing is with the spoons, you can't compact it, so won't get as much as with a capsule. You're right, Helga: i was a bit frantic initially, but with some more experimenting today to figure out teaspoon equivalents per dose and double-checking with my scale, i've pretty much got it down now. I'll still make up some caps for emergencies and travel, but this method certainly does save a lot of time and money -- not to mention all that wear and tear on my poor capsule-weary throat! (I still have plenty of other pills and capsules to swallow. . ..) The only issue i see is that, with each new batch of herb i get, i'll need to check on the teaspoon amount, since i suppose there could possibly be some variations in density from batch to batch. Guest guest
I don't have Lyme but I am taking herbs for overall health/energy (ordered it for wife's Lyme but she's not on them yet). I order powder form herbs from 1st Chinese and Rain-tree. This is what I do: take the following twice a day: 1/2 tsp andrographis 1/2 tsp turmeric 1/2 tsp knotweed 1/2 tsp smilax 1/2 tsp cat's claw 1/2 tsp andrographis 1/2 tsp houttouniya I mix it in a glass of water and gulp it down. As far as the exact weights go I don't think it's going to make a difference if you're off by 0.1 grams either way. That's why I go by volume rather than exact weight (initially I did calibrate what a 1/2 tsp weighs for each herb using my gram scale). I personally find the mixture somewhat unpleasant but not repulsive. It just takes getting used to a couple of times.

Guest guest
WHY are you taking TWO 1/2 teaspoons of Andrographis, instead of one teaspoon? You wouldn't catch me taking andro like that though. I know better. I took it in TABLET form and still couldn't stand it gulping as fast as I could. YUK! I would quit Andro first. ### yaniv_naced <yaniv_naced@...> wrote: I don't have Lyme but I am taking herbs for overall health/energy (ordered it for wife's Lyme but she's not on them yet).
