Guest guest
I would like to find someone that is famous that has Chronic Lyme, someone that didn't immediately discover they were bitten, then get antibiotics and get cured. Would like to know if there is a link or story out there that parallels the many, many people that aren't diagnosed right away, and really struggle. It seems as if many people are under the illusion you go to your local doc and get a pill or a course of antibiotics and you are finished with Lyme forever. Would like to direct a few people I know to something that parallels reality. Thanks,

Guest guest
Hi , You may want to read Amy Tan's story. She's a novelist who was misdiagnosed for a very long time, and struggled with severe symptoms including brain seizures and hallucinations. Guest guest
, I haven't researched these folks' stories, but here are some names of well-known people who have had Lyme: GW Bush, Gov Pataki, Gov Bredesen(TN), Gov Whitman(NJ), Rep Schumer(NY), Gere, Fox, Kristie Brinkley, Darryl Hall, Pete Seeger, Wells, Alice , Landau(San Diego news anchor), Tim Simpson(golfer) -- that's for starters -- I'm sure there's many more, unfortunately. -- Robin **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
Guest guest
I wonder how many of them have chronic lyme and know it and those that do... why don't they use their media clout to get together and make a statement of some sort? -- Every time you share your story, you are a Lyme Activist. Guest guest
My sense is some news anchors have been great about reporting their own story. And I think some reps are helping, like Rep Schumer is a co-sponsor of the federal bill. And then others might be a bit beholden to moneyed interests, unfortunately. Or they might have had gold standard treatment in order to save themselves and are not publicly announcing as such because then the public would ask why they too can't get such treatment. Now what we need are well-known people who don't feel beholden. Amy Tan is doing a lot of good work, including supporting kids' access to care. BTW. some famous people are making a movie, I believe called " Lymelife " , to come out next year. Scorcese directing, Hutton in it, and others. **************************************See AOL's top rated recipes (http://food.aol.com/top-rated-recipes?NCID=aoltop00030000000004)
