Guest guest
My daughters doc in Houston definitely suggests Mepron. She's on IV Rocephin 4 days alternating with 3 days of Flagyl...and some supportive stuff. After 4 weeks of that regimin, she takes 2 bottles of Mepron with a break in between (I think the break between the two is 4 weeks). Docs don't get Lyme but they do sit up and take notice if you have Babesia. I've mentioned before that Igenex has a new version of Babesia test that's more sensitive and specific than things before. Worth testing as it accompanies Bb more than they used to think. [ ] Babesia Hello. Does anyone have experience using Mepron for Babesia? I was diagnosed with Lymes and Erlichea in May after being very sick for 5 months. Went on doxycycline which did nothing for me except tear up my gut. By mid July I could barely walk and the lymes was going into my brain. My LLMD changed the Doxy to Doryx, and added Zithromax. Within one week my symptoms improved dramatically; energy improved, brain fog went away, tingling subsided. It has been 4 weeks now and I continue to do much better although I still have off-days and 3-5pm is a really tough time for me. One of the symptoms I continue to have is shortness of breath. I just received the test results for Babesia and they came back positive. My Dr is recommending Mepron. Just curious if anyone has had experience with treating Babesia with Mepron? I am using the artemisinin but I am not convinced that that alone will kill the babesia. I am a clinical nutritionist and I have been doing a lot of supportive herbal, nutritional and natural therapies. I believe this is making a huge difference in my recovery. I've always had a very clean diet, but now it is pristine. It is absolutely essential to cut out all white flour and sugar to support your immune system so you can heal, and of-course, to support your adrenals, blood sugar, liver, and all other organ systems. I do counseling by phone now and if anyone feels they need some help, see my website - www.clinicalnutritioncounseling.com) This experience has been life- changing in many ways and I believe I am supposed to be working with people with Lymes and other chronic illnesses. Healing wishes to all..... Judy Questions and/or comments can be directed to the list owner at -Owner

Guest guest
HI, I had the menopausal sweats along with the babesia, but my babs didn't show up for a few years. I don't have the site, but did find out that it is a sleeper illness and can return anytime. I am so much better with treatment. I drank at least a gallon or more of water a day, my sweats were so bad and would still end up in ER because of dehydration. With treatment I am better. Don't let them blame everything on menopause. Good luck, Connie, MI

Before I knew I had Lyme, I had a spell where I got very depressed, anxious, couldn't sleep at all. Was severely exhausted, sweating and would just flop down on my bed. I'd notice how spacey I felt. Not just brain-fogged. Back then the word " delirious " came to mind. When I found out that I had Lyme and babesiosis, and read that the babs was like malaria, I remembered all those movies I'd seen as a teenager where people in Africa had malaria, and they were dilerious. Yes, it felt like that. In the past few months I have been feeling worse. I think it's the babs, not the Lyme. An LLMD told me last June that he was surprised, with all the treatment I'd gotten, that I was still so sick. He said it was the babesia stopping the healing. I have tried every herbal and prescription medicine that people use for babesia and am allergic to all of them. This is very scarey right now, because I feel as though there's an infection in my body that is so strong that I am stagnant through and through. Just not getting rid of it. Because of the heat in my body, I've kept my home themostat about 4-6 degrees lower than it used to be. Now, the manifestation is an upper respiratory infection, mucous, turn-inside-out cough in one spot in my lower throat, very thick mucous in post-nasal area. I really want this to be over. Guest guest
Have you looked into using Colloidal Silver www.natural-immunogenics.com for the babesia? Since you can't do the other natural stuff for it. I have been told that it would also kill the co-infections along with the lyme. Also there is a new lyme group on called lymestrategies that may help with the babesia bluesky <bluesky@...> wrote: > And my B. had rapid heart/skipping heart and tightness in the solar plexus > along with what you both say - also with me, a sense inside my head that I > wasn't really " there " but somewhere outside myself . . this was magnified > by the Mepron, so I had to cut back a bit so I could maintain some sense of > identity. > Glen, New Jersey. Guest guest
Thanks for the replies on babesia. I'm not sure after reading them that I have it. I occassionaly have had skipped heart beats but figured that could be from lyme or som other creature or could be a dieoff symptom. In the past have had night sweats but it's been ages. Never felt delirious. Who knows? Have been using rife babesia frequencies along with the antibioitcs just in case. Guest guest
, I have been using colloidal silver more regularly lately because of an upper respiratory sinus thing that's been going on for weeks. Cannot tell if it's the weeks-long similar thing everyone around her has gotten or if it's the Lyme/babesia/mycoplasma/EBV/yeast/whatever. My goal was to use the silver 4x a day orally, in ears, in eyes, and in nose. At first this really seemed to help. But, given daily demands, I often forget to do it this many times. Anyone have ideas about dosages? Thanks, Deanna > Have you looked into using Colloidal Silver www.natural-immunogenics.com for > the babesia? Guest guest
Well, , if it's any consolation, they use blood transfusions and doxycycline on dogs when they get Babesia. Guest guest
Tara, I would definitly suggest having your sed rate checked, and have an arteriogram done. My husband had a mild heart attack last July and now is on nitro as needed. It has helped alot. He was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme and Babesia in 2003. Have you had an MRI or CT scan done? If so, I was wondering what the results showed. Doctors stated hubbys were fine although when I got the actual test results in hand and read them, it showed white hyperintensities. I thank God that his Cardiologist is LL and has treated many Lyme patients in NY city. Guest guest
Hi Selma, No, sometimes I get hot when I drink coffee. I think it is hormonal. Yes I should stop drinking coffee, but I love it! I only drink about 1-2 cups a day. I mix it with the yoga tea which is really delicious. I didn't take red root, I took the boneset tea. No, I no longer take anything for the babesia. I only took the tea while I was suffering. best, ellen -- In , " selmanaka " <hardynaka@...> wrote: > > Funny Ellen! Guest guest
I'm in lower Michigan. I was treated for babesia in September with Mepron and Zithro. My first lab 6 weeks after treatment was negative but my latest is positive again. I'm negative for lyme disease, however, and haven't been treated for that yet. I was bit by a tick while strawberry picking and got the bulls eye rash (small one) on my leg. That was over 18 months ago. It took a long time to get anyone to treat me. My general practitioner thinks I'm a nut case. I now have autoimmune things going on too. About 3 months ago I got a lump on the knuckle of my pinky finger - was told it's suspicious for rheumatoid arthritis but those tests came back negative. Don't know what in the world it is yet. My RBC is low. ANA is positive though. My ID doctor isn't back in the office until January now so don't know if they'll start treatment again for babesia or what the next step is.....I'm just so TIRED of waiting for......a diagnosis and treatment. Guest guest
Babesia is no fun at all! I have it, along with Lyme and Bartonella. I am on the following for all three: Mepron (for babesia, started at 1 tsp 2 x per day and am up to 2 tsp 2 x per day), pulsing with zithromax (3 days taking it 3 days off), bactrim, plaquinil, cefdinir, artemisia (herb, for babesia). I just started teh bactrim and zithromax last wednesday and had a very had herx on thursday but was a lot better by friday. I think this new combo is working. I was previoulsy on biaxin instead of bactrim and zithromax. I started treatment Dec 15 and until late last week i had no subsidence of my babesia symptoms (i get horrible drenching night sweats, every night). I noticed over the weekend that they were slightly better. Good luck and I hope you find the combo that works for you! > > I just received word Friday that i am positive for Babesia. Guest guest
Go slow and drink plenty of fluids. You just stop when to sick w/abx and then start up again when better or worse, per my LLMD. Guest guest
I'm assuming that your severe symptoms are a herx reaction. Herx's are good, in that they mean bacteria are being killed. If your herx is too severe maybe you can just decrease the dose of the meds you are on for a while. Hope you feel better.
