Guest guest
One thing to check is heavy metals. They can effect taste. Heavy metals stored in tissue (most of us have at a least some) are mobilized when spirocheates are killed off. ABX can so this very quickly and over load the system with toxins, including heavy metals. The liver seems to be the most effected, as it filters out the metals from the blood, but it cannot get rid of it, and it gets damaged. This can cause a metallic taste on the tongue and also bad tongue and mouth ulcers. I've been on the Buhner protocol with 5 herbs max dose for two and half years. IT has worked well but the critters are still eating my joint fluid and tissue. But I can thank Buhner for helping to prevent more damage to my body from heavy metals. The most significant issue I am resolving is the heavy metals. I tested in the middle of the elevated range for mercury, below that was lead, and below that was arsenic. Just taking the Chemet for the chelated urine test made my tongue normal for while. I took another month of Doxy in Nov. to see if I could make more progress, and it helped. But what is really helping it that I removed my last amalgam or mercury filling. Chelating with amalgams in was not good. After awhile I experienced the metalic taste again, but now it has mostly gone, thanks to chelation. I also get this nerve pains in my chest area( my heart has been checked), which I have determined is mercury that is mobilized. I make sure to chelate to prevent this from occurring. I had nerve pains for years when under stress, which was accompanied with profuse salivation. Only two years ago did I figure out these were signs of mercury toxicity! Mercury lodges in the heart, the brain, and the liver. IT has almost ruined my life. I guess I can at least say those spirocheates have taught me how toxic our modern life is, and that now I can do something about it!!! But I cannot say how much better my thinking abilites would be if I didn't have those damn mercury fillings since I was 3. So, the best thing outside of getting rid of Lyme, is to get rid of your amalgams, and get tested for heavy metals and chelate them if they are a problem. The real challenge is removing the bad metals without losing too much of the good minerals, which many of you know you already need a lot of. I know several Lyme patients who were on the core protocol and had that same experience, and it was due to the Andrographis. They all eventually got their taste back, but for some it took several months. The prescription drug Biaxin/Clarithromycin, which is commonly used to treat Lyme & Babesia, can affect taste, also. I know of one man who totally lost his taste for months after stopping the Biaxin. For others,it causes a metallic taste in the mouth - which can be quite bad. I had to stop that medication for that reason. The Andrographis just made me feel bad in general at the max dose, but the other Buhner herbs were easy for me and my husband to tolerate. Good luck. > > After three weeks of using andrographis, I have experienced a loss of taste - makes eating strange. Guest guest
Rick, I've been tested for mercury via a hair analysis but I'm not familiar with the testing for the other metals. Is it done through a MD? Thanks for the info! -
Guest guest
IT has worked well but the critters are still eating my joint fluid and tissue. By IT - so you mean ABX? And what are you doing about your fluids? I have the same problem and have actually ordered collagen from Pure - anyone tried it? I hear it can at least help stave off the damage. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Rick Vanden Heuvel Sent: Saturday, January 09, 2010 9:15 PM Subject: RE: [ ] Re: Loss of Taste/ Heavy metals One thing to check is heavy metals.
