Guest guest
Feral cat bite issue: Cat is now gone, but I have two vials: one of blood and one of serum. My doctor recommended that the cat blood be tested for a lyme titer and mycoplasma titer. What is the diference between the Lyme Western Blot and Lyme test and the Lyme titer? Why would I want to have the other two lyme tests done? What do these two blood tests reveal that the Lyme titer does not? lymeover and out Thank you for the information. I think with 'Lyme titer' they mean either or Western Blot test. For humans the normal procedure is to do an test and if it is positive confirm it with a Western Blot. However, the tes has many pitfals and I think it is pretty useless. A Western Blot from a good lab (like IgeneX in de US) is far more reliable (more sensitive and specific = small chance of false positive outcome).
