Guest guest
after 8 mos. of antibiotics which were killing me, 4 wks before my next appt with the LLMD, I stopped the doxy/flagyl without telling my doc-just to see what would happen on Buhner herbs alone (also using them for 8 mos)-I went up for about five days, and then down, down, down over the following weeks. Reported the results at our next lyme meeting, ending up with a different combo-minocycline/plaquenal-and am now feeling much better since restarting the milder antibiotics-darn it. But everyone is different. It usually doesn't hurt to experiment. The results tend to make themselves known pretty fast. If your doctor is good, he shouldn't object to what steps you try on your own to take towards wellness, in fact, he should be interested in your experiments and results. My doc is always noting what worked and what didn't for me-as part of his own ongoing research into this convoluted illness. > > Hello, > I posted last week regarding stopping abx treatment for my 11 yr old daughter. She's been on Buhner core protocol for 6 weeks now, abx for 13 months. I would really appreciate your thoughts on stopping the abx (w/o LLMD support). Her symptoms have not improved since last summer, but are not severe at this point (constant low-grade headache and muscle pain). The thought would be that the abx are preventing her from progressing, and may have set off asthma last september (never had it before). Or maybe it's the Flovent (cortisone) inhaler she takes daily that's the problem... > > I would really appreciate your feedback/experience. The thought of stopping the abx without Dr. appoval is nerve wracking. I've been reducing her flovent also (very nerve wracking). What do I do if she worsens? Call the doctor and say " I stopped trusting your treatment, can you help us again... " ? > > Would love to hear of anyone stopping while on core protocol and either improving or not so my decision may be more informed... > > So sorry to be bugging you with these abx questions, > Thank you, > Aviva >
Guest guest
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Amazing how different it is for everyone. You're right that our doctor should be neither offended nor put off by our experimenting, it's all a big experiment for everyone it seems. I'm still afraid of stopping the abx, I thought we would stop this week...
