Hi - maybe go to the ER and have them make sure they get it all out? I know

this is a Buhner herb group, but if you were to go the abx route, I think it's

amoxycillin for kids. www.lymenet.org/flashdiscussion/medicalquestions would

have experienced patients who can answer the preventive abx question.

Also, if you have plenty of deer in the area, how about some good tick repellant

on everyone? Including essential oils? - Robin

[ ] Quick! Help! 3yo with tick!

I just tried to get a tick out of my 3yo girl. Unfortunately the head is

embedded in her. What do I do? I am not sure how to remove it. We tried matches

and tweezers to get it off but it still left the head in. Talk about traumatic.

But now what can I give her to treat and prevent lyme? I have cat's claw

tincture, Samento, astragalus in capsules...I am trying to think what else. I

just don't want her possibly saddle with lyme. It was a small tick. Not sure

what kind but we have plenty of deer in the area and since she didn't go outside

yet today this must be from yesterday. :(

Short term, smother it with an antibiotic cream, or a good honey if you haven't

any antibiotic. Maybe a hot cloth will help draw it out. Then get her to the

emergency room and let them remove the head. You should probably take her to see

an MD ASAP if the emergency room MDs don't prescribe Doxycycline. Even a

conventional MD knows enough to put her on an antibiotic as a precaution. If she

is put on anti-biotics immediately, for a month(depending on which anti-biotic

is prescribed), she won't get Lyme and you wont have anything to worry about.

Save the tick for testing.

Hello, I realize many hours have passed.....but i will pass on what i learned

when i had the same situation:

make a paste of bentonite clay with a bit of goldenseal (and/or a drop of tea

tree oil)

Put the paste over the bite.

It will pull the toxins out.

Hope this helps....

peace, ease,

yarrow

p.s. for herbal first aide, i highly recommend having food grade bentonite clay

on hand and also either goldenseal caps or the tincture for situations such as

this. I got my clay at Mountain rose herbs. No commercial interest.

Hi. If it's not a deer tick, I am not sure you have anything to worry

about while you look for a solution. The easy way to get out a tick

is to put some soap and water on the end of a Q tip and keep making

circular motions until the tick releases. I don't know if this will

work for just a head, but it's worth a try. They drop off within

minutes. It happened to me by the way and even when I went to a

doctor they just told me it would “work itself out” of my body and

not to worry. I don't know exactly when I got Lyme but this was a

larger tick so I don't think it had the spirochete. Good luck.
