Guest guest
Anyone else struggling with this? I ordinarily drink 2 weak cups of coffee a day. I'm ok with that. Since I've been feeling this dreadful brain fog - I can't even remember for how long - I keep drinking coffee. even tho it is clear that it doesn't help. If you are old enough you may remember that commercial, " Coffee, the think drink " . Propaganda! I really feel sick or uncomfortable when I drink more than my 2 usual cups. So sometimes it helps me to share something that I'm stuck with, so that is why my post. regards, ellen
Guest guest
Ellen, Try weaning yourself from coffee gradually and substituting black tea (Earl Grey is very flavorful) which has half the caffeine. Then switch to green or herbal teas which are caffeine free. I only drank one strong cup of coffee a day before my neuro symptoms got bad. Coffee never caused a problem before that. Now I can barely tolerate any caffeine--it increases my neuro symptoms. Caffeine is definitely not helpful for those of us with neuro lyme. There are supplements which help with brain fog: eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng) , Acetyl-L Carnitine taken with SAM-e. There are others in Buhner's book: Huperzine, Vincamine & Zinc. pgs 61-66. Kim [ ] Trying to stop over-loading on caffeine Anyone else struggling with this? Guest guest
Ellen, I too feel sick if I drink more than 2 cups a day, it doesn't help me w/brain fog. Coffee leaches minerals/nutrients from our bodies, and Lyme already uses them up, so green tea or herbal tea might be a better choice for us coffee drinkers. Green tea is supposed to have some anti-inflammatory compounds in it. Feel better! Guest guest
There is a supplement called Rhodiola that is supposed to give a pickup(enough to replace coffee). For me it was not that strong but since I have more chronic drowsiness, it might work for you.
