Guest guest
Hi all, As I read these goggle search results I see auto immunity effects a great number of us, if not all that have not been treated with positive results early...I suggest those with LLMD's should address these issues that are not being addressed as whole with lyme patients. After having a heart attack a couple years ago that left me with extremely high blood pressure that was not responsive to high blood pressure meds and constant heart palps which I control with flush free niacin .. and some form of odd attack which made me really unstable in 2002 .. I have to think both are autoimmune related. And periodically I get lung wheezing .. just makes me even more ill, I started a search using the word " LYME autoimmune cardiomyopathy " and wow .. a lot of studies have been done in this area. I pretty much know that I'm progressively getting worse (already in bed all the time after 11 yrs of showing the later stages.) But, I'm not sure what to do from here since no docs around that know anything. And cant find any help to get anything done in the way of daily needs, paperwork, applying for VA or other benefits. Im from CA but in TX and have been searching for what seems to not exist in TX, any form of social worker/advocate since Im on my own. Heres the search link... http://www.google.com/search?q=LYME+autoimmune+cardiomyopathy & rlz=1I7GPCK_en & ie=\ UTF-8 & oe=UTF-8 & sourceid=ie7 Any insight anyone can provide will be sooo helpful... Guest guest
I suggest reading the book 'The Autoimmune Epidemic'. It is NOT about Lyme (it is mentioned only once in the book) but everything will sound VERY familiar: the scientific confusion about the (multiple) factors involved, the gradual build up of problems until some trigger causes the bucket to overflow, the lack of good treatments, the importance of food and environment, the political and financial issues involved etc. For most autoimmune diseases there is no good medical treatment; if treatments are available they usually have severe side effects. The book suggests some lifestyle changes, diet changes and supplements that can help. Most of that will also look very familiar to those with lyme. I think Lyme is just another one of all those 'environmental diseases', the only specific issue in lyme is that borrelia is the trigger (not some other bacterium or virus like EBV), and that it is related to tick bytes while the other 'auto-immune' diseases have usually a more stealthy trigger. Guest guest
> I suggest reading the book 'The Autoimmune Epidemic'. hmmm, second time Ive read from you to read this .. very lengthy book, dated 2008 fairly new date. Thought Id mention it can be found on amazon very reasonably, I pd 1.32 and 3.99 shipping .. more in this price range. I just hope I can focus enough to read it. So, all these " published scientific findings " on the net are rubbish ? What herbs do she mention? And I would have to live near all the chem plants in tx.... Something else to remember a lot has happened on understand autoimmunity in the past few yrs..cant recall what, but I recall suggested break throughs to the overall gammet.. Guest guest
> So, all these " published scientific findings " on the net are rubbish ? I think they are focusing on the trees instead of the forest; it's all small pieces of the puzzle but most of this does not grasp the full problem, so it will not solve the problem either. > What herbs do she mention? And I would have to live near all the chem plants in tx.... rue shrub plant (that one is new to me), curcumin, antioxidants (from berries, cocoa, certain green vegetables etc.). It is mostly about the well known supplements like glucosamine, omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, probiotics). I think catsclaw was mentioned somewhere, don't remember it all. > Something else to remember a lot has happened on understand autoimmunity in the past few yrs..cant recall what, but I recall suggested break throughs to the overall gammet.. some 'breakthrough' examples are mentioned in the book, but it doesn't sound convincing to me, and most of that is still unproven (based on lab animals, isolated cases etc.). The books suggests that auto-immunity is a chain of many steps, and we only understand a bit of the last ones that lead to full blown disease, not the first ones that set the whole thing in motion (like toxic exposure, genetic disposition, diet etc.). And our understanding of the immune system is still limited too, auto-immune diseases have shown that a lot of our ideas about how the immune system separates self from non-self are wrong. The list of auto-immune diseases at the end of the book is staggering, far over a hundred. Many of those are quite recent developments; something must be really wrong in our world ... I think I'm going to read up a bit on some of the research that is mentioned, especially for diseases like MS that seem to have a strong connection to Lyme. Guest guest
Have you considered trying alternative treatments such as CS, rife or Salt/c? I have collected a lot of information while helping my wife get her Chronic Lyme into remission. See site below. www.lyme-resource.com You can lead a person to a fact, but you can't make them think! - > [ ] LYME autoimmune cardiomyopathy > > Hi all, > As I read these goggle search results I see auto immunity > effects a great number of us, if not all that have not been > treated with positive results early...I suggest those with > LLMD's should address these issues that are not being > addressed as whole with lyme patients. > > After having a heart attack a couple years ago that left me > with extremely high blood pressure that was not responsive to > high blood pressure meds and constant heart palps which I > control with flush free niacin .. and some form of odd attack > which made me really unstable in 2002 ..
