there are several differences between the commercial pills, most important one

is probably standardized Resveratrol content and amount of knotweed that is

present. Another issue is fillers and other stuff that some people want/need to

avoid.

Bulk herbs and the stuff you make yourself is NOT standardized, so you don't

know what you get. Some will be comfortable with this, others won't. It takes

more experimenting for getting the right dose, which is not required with the

standardized pills. This is why Buhner recommends certain commercial products.

I'm a biochemist, but I'm very hesitant to take this route, I think it takes a

lot of experience to do everything right and these herbs is not the same as

experimenting with normal food in your kitchen ...

Do you know how long you can store self made tinctures, what dose to take etc.?

One of the nice things of the Buhner protocol (or herbs in general) is the low

cost and being independent from Big Pharma. I'm currently using bulk herbs (from

1St Chinese) that I encapsulate myself, plus additional supplements. Even making

your own pills it too much trouble for some (and for those with neuro lyme maybe

not a good idea, if you are really confused sometimes).

I purchased some Eleuthero for tincturing, but it's still in my fridge because I

have to learn how to tincture it, how to get the right dose etc. There is a

group on herbs tincturing etc., it was mentioned here some time ago but I

forget to bookmark it.
