Guest guest
Hi all - I have been on low dose antibiotics for 3 months followed by high dose combination meds for 7 months (doxy/zithromax plus occassional flagyl). I decided to make the switch to Buhner due to side effects caused by antibiotics such as severe itching, gastro problems and candida. Although I'm starting the Buhner protocol slowly I have noticed huge herxes happening - even more so than when I was on prescription meds. All my neuro symptoms and joint pain and weakness has flared up considerably coupled with a hangover type feeling. I'm fairly convinced it is a herx rather than worsening from being off antibiotics as the onset was quick and when I reduced the herbs and took questran the symptoms died down a little and worsened as soon as I went back up a tablet again. I am currently only managing 2 x Andragophis, 1 x Reservatrol and 2 x Cat's Claw a day (although still working on building these up slowly). My question really is did others have this amount of herxing on herbals even after being on antibiotics before hand? As far as I know I just have LD as the other co-infections came up negative (although I know false negs with co-infections can occur!) Guest guest
Oh yeah, I herxed when I started and was still on abx (bicillin 2x/week) at the time. In addition to the core herbs I added Sarsaparilla and Eleuthero and those seem to help with herx symptoms. I followed the procedure for increasing dosages exactly as Buhner suggests so after one month I was up to 4/4x. I had to stop Andrographis, once I hit the high dose I got hives. I did just add one tablet a day back to my regimen though and I herxed from that! - [ ] Herxing on Buhner Hi all - I have been on low dose antibiotics for 3 months followed by high dose combination meds for 7 months (doxy/zithromax plus occassional flagyl). I had very little herxing on Buhner protocol, but strong herxing on ABX which I took for about a year before starting with Buhner. It is not clear what the herxing is, the best bet is probably that it is caused by release of toxic substances when the Bb's die off. My impression is that most people have stronger herxes with ABX compared to Buhner. After 1 year of ABX and 1 year of Buhner I still had Lyme (positive Western Blottest, spirochetes visible in blood). I don't have any clear 'herx' responses from the herbs, but I do have occasional symptom flares (with unknown cause, seems to be some kind of cycle).
