Guest guest
Hi Suz, My LLMD ran a 24-hormone urine panel, and almost all of mine were abnormally low. I'm somewhat older than you, so some hormonal imbalance was to be expected, but mine were trashed, even my adrenal hormones. He has me on 5 different hormones (cortef and progesterone in pill form, testosterone and estrogen in compounded creams, and DHEA over the counter). I have been on them for about 3-4 months, and can tell you I am not as tired, and have a lot more stamina. I believe they have made a substantial difference. I don't remember if my doctor told me how the Lyme made them abnormal, but he said that 95% of his Lyme patients have abnormal hormone levels. I also don't know if this resolves after treatment, or how long I will have to take them -- maybe forever. I guess I don't really care if I have to take them forever if they make me feel better. However, it is expensive. With the compounded creams (and good insurance) the cost is about $100 per month. Add that to my supplement bill . . . well, I don't want to think about it. Regards, GE [ ] Hormone Issues How many of you have abnormal hormone levels as a result of having Lyme? I am only 27 and am low in almost everything. That alone is enough to make someone feel awful, not to mention the Lyme itself. Just wondered if Lyme had caused your hormones to go wacky too. Does this resolve after treatment? How does Lyme make our hormones abnormal? Thanks, Suz
Guest guest
I would think that it's the andrographis because it affects your progesterone levels. You could try adding a progesterone cream, like ProGest. Also, flaxseed oil and evening primrose help to balance hormones. I'm concerned about the progesterone affect so I don't use the andrographis. You could also cut back on the amount of andrographis you take and see if that helps. Guest guest
Hi , I recall feeling some of those symptoms when i took the Smilax/Sarsparilla. It didn't feel right for me. You might think about starting over and adding one herb at a time. Slow and gentle can often be best. Ease and peace, yarrow > > I seem to be haveing major hormone issues on the Buhner protocol. Guest guest
In my experience, these were symptoms of Lyme. They improved while on antibiotics and finally resolved while on the Buhner protocol. --Sue > > I seem to be haveing major hormone issues on the Buhner protocol. Guest guest
I'm sorry to say that the japanese knotweed ccaused breast tenderness for me. I increased my calcium-d-glucarate and DIM (both supplements that help eliminate excess estrogen) so I could continue the knotweed since its such an important part of the protocol. jo > > I seem to be haveing major hormone issues on the Buhner protocol. Guest guest
The herb agnus castus is often used to balance progesterone and estrogen levels.
