Most of the Buhner herbs don't blindly KILL, they modulate bacterial behaviour (e.g. andrographis works by targeting bacterial quorum sensing). Herbs were chosen based on a long history of use for certain diseases; many herbs are somewhat selective and don't target just everything that lives. Some of the other Buhner herbs probably work indirectly, by stimulating our own immune system and helping repair damage (e.g. to the nerves). When looking at the 'science', both herbs and CS have a long track record of antibacterial action. The big difference is that for herbs we already know many details about how they work, for CS we know basically nothing. > Personally I'm comfortable trying something that hasn't been proven or how it works is unknown, if I'm inspired to do so. I haven't tried CS yet, but I may in the future. There is no 100% guaranteed cure for LD, so experimenting with alternatives may be necessary. That can include unproven treatments if there are no good alternatives. But my choice would be to start with treatments that seem more specific and potentially less dangerous.
