Guest guest
Thanks Aurora. I would love to contact an herbalist--hopefully Tim --however finances are just too tough right now to take on yet another specialist. I will most likely have to contact him in the next few months, but I don't want to wait for the $$$ to be available before getting her on these herbs. I'm buying what I can from the list in Buhner's book and starting slowly to see if she even has a reaction--good or bad--to any of them. She is on abx right now as well but has plateaued, so I really want to start weaning her off the abx and moving more toward just herbs--at which point I will definitely contact T. for guidance. Interesting that your herbalist favors tinctures--good to know that I can start her on those without risk of them not being effective--I'll try to give at least an hour away from abx. Thanks for your help! Mira [ ] Re: Tinctures vs. powder <<I'm now wondering if one herbal preparation (tincture vs powder) is better than the other?>> The naturopaths I've seen generally prefer tinctures as being more easily absorbed independent of how good the digestion is. I would contact an herbalist who uses both for help with that. Mine just does tinctures. I would start slow and work up to her tolerance, independently of the recommended dose, which is a statistical average anyway. If she hasn't been on them all yet, I'd start with one at a time, so if she has a bad reaction to anything, you know which one. Once she's on them all I would mix them. The instructions with some tinctures I take were to keep at least 40 minutes between the tinctures and everything else, but longer is better if you can manage it. My sense is that it's especially important to do this with the abx. Good luck Aurora
