Guest guest
There is a salt/vitamin C protocol on the lymestrategies group which discusses the benefits of salt. Most important - do not use table salt. It is bleached and then has additives to prevent caking. The salt that is recommended is Himalayan salt, next best is RealSalt, next is Celtic Sea Salt. Even if you don't want to do the protocol full strength (which requires building up to 1 gram of each of salt and C for each 12 to 15 lb of body weight), adding salt is still beneficial to the body. It is suggested to ramp up, starting with 1 gram of salt (1/4 teaspoon) as this can cause herxing. The protocol matches salt and vitamin C gram for gram. Most people tolerate the higher doses of salt but some have trouble with it. As mentioned, nausea can be a problem (drinking lots of water to dilute the salt in the stomach can help). Also, some people may see an increase in blood pressure although most don't. Some may experience swelling in the tissues but this is not common either. deb > > > > Sea salt/saline solution is good to drink first thing in the morning to hydrate. I have to be careful with this one because it can cause nausea if I drink too much. > > how much salt do you use then? I always thought that saline solution (even relatively low concentrations) was dehydrating ... >
