This was in the European Journal of Medical Research. Apparently fluconazole has an inhibitory impact on a cytochrome P450, which incapacitates the Borrelia spp. upon longterm exposure with it. He says that may-be a longer treatment would have improved the results. but after those few publications things became silent, I checked it 1-2 years ago and did not find any recent info. I don't think there has been much followup on this protocol. My guess is that, like many other alternative treatment protocols, it works for a select group of patients only (maybe those who failed on standard antibiotics). > I am going to look into it further and a month of fluconazole treatment can be be overcome. It does affect the liver and it has some interactions with some other medications. it doesn't sound very safe to me. P450 is important, it is not a good idea to shut it down for too long.
