+++Hi there. What is your name? No, you do not need to take any kind of

natural antifungal other than unrefined coconut oil. Also do not take

fluconazole since it is very toxic to the body and damages the liver.

Also any info on how often it can be taken & what strength would be very useful

as I do not know anything about taking this but I am on a 2 week course of

strong antibiotics and so really need it. I have taken 150mg today (from GP)

but I am going on hols on Friday and so need to get some more cheaply before I

go.

You can buy it from the chemists - its usually about £11-£13 I think - they may

sell generic stuff, whenever I need it (fortunately not for ages now) they give

me the branded Canestan.

I've looked at the leaflet of the spare one I have in the drawer - it says that

1 x 150 mg capsule is the complete course of treatment. You could of course

combine that with cream if you need it and eating lots of live yoghurt or taking

the bioacidophalus (spelling?) tablets to replace the good bacteria that the

antibiotics and flucanazole are killing off.

Hope you're better soon!

There's chemist direct, too, i think. From the files:

http://f1.grp.fs.com/v1/QJ_USwvV1wJANT9PCo8VlcBv34AZze1RFvJxG3_Iqf1zJp2rEEC\

Fluconazole%20very%20cheaply.doc

it's £2.04 from there i think. if you do a google shopping search for

flucanazole (sp?) it will come up on there but don't think you'll get any

cheaper

chemist direct also has canesten fluconazole for £4.99 which is a good price.

dono't know if like some other meds it's worth paying for a 'brand' or if the

generic is as good.

you can get a bad die off from diflucan sometimes; it made me feel pretty rough,

i gather this can be from die off or from the drug itself. i think i read that

it suppresses thyroid function but can't remember where i read that.

You can purchase this at most pharmacies. However, if you have

been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, get a copy of your exemption certificate

and show this to your Pharmacist. You can get one (or even two in some cases)

tablets free of charge. You need your medical number and may have to give your

doctors name and address. Not many people know this *grin*

Thanks ,

I would appreciate knowing how much of this people take for candida, as I have

only used it occasionally before for thrush whenever I have got it, but taking

antibiotics for 14 days (4 still to go) I am expecting to have to repeat the

fluconazole. I just want to take some away with me on hols too in case I need

them.

Ordered them Sunday and they arrived today (Tuesday). Postage was 1.94 but

their maximum postage charge is £2.25, however much you order.

THanks Sheila,

I will have to try that sometime! Any idea if they then notify the doctor?

No - I see no reason why they would need to. Especially as

this is an over the counter medication.

http://www.tpa-uk.org.uk/candida_albicans.php

" Its treatment falls into four sections. First, you try to starve it out.

Candida thrives on sugar - so much so it can actually make you crave sugar and

starch. It's impossible to eliminate carbohydrates completely, but you can cut

out all refined sugars and starches, and have high fibre fruit and vegetables -

the complex carbohydrates. Second, we must try to kill the Candida with

fungicide. Nystatin has long been popular; another is Sporonox. I recommend,

partly for the sake of simplicity, ***Fluconazole (without prescription), 1 x

150mg weekly for 2 or 3 weeks, which can be very effective.*** More so if

combined with caprylic acid or grapefruit seed extract, garlic, or horopito.

Essential is the provision of the beneficial bacteria to replace the mob; these

are the pre-and pro-biotics which contain millions of the beneficial bacteria

and the food to feed them. All health food shops and recommend effective

recommendations. "

Hi Val, do drink cranberry juice- this really helps with thrush- may also help avert an attack. > thyroid treatment > From: valerieforster56@...> Date: Sun, 25 Apr 2010 20:54:55 +0000> Subject: Re: fluconazole> > Thanks ,> > I would appreciate knowing how much of this people take for candida, as I have only used it occasionally before for thrush whenever I have got it, but taking antibiotics for 14 days (4 still to go) I am expecting to have to repeat the fluconazole. yes, AFAIK it is officially an anti-yeast drug.

But just like antibiotics are sometimes combined with other ABX type, or

combined with cyst busters like flagyl or plaquenil (cystbuster according to

some, just a way to increase action of certain ABX according to others), one

could combine ABX and fluconazole to get more action. Maybe the fluconazole

helps against Bb, and maybe it helps fighting Candida or similar infections. It

is all experimental though.

With Lyme, you often are unsure what exactly is causing the trouble. If you use

blood microscopy, there are often signs of both Candida and Borrelia (and

sometimes forms that could be both).

It depends on where you are buying the Fluconazole. If you are

hypothyroid, and living in the UK, I understand you can usually go into a high

street chemist and ask for Fluconazole and show them your hypothyroid exception

certificate and you can get 1 tablet free of charge. If you need 3 tablets, you

would need to approach 3 pharmacies.

You can try here http://www.pharmacyfirst.co.uk/embarrassing/fluconazole-150mg-1-capsule-thrush-treatment/prod_1949.html?added=1

where you can buy it very cheaply at 18p, but contact them first to see whether

you need a prescription or not.

I have checked out the recommended chemist in the Files (under

Candida) and see that yes, apparently you now have need of a NHS or private

prescription to purchase Fluconazole. I have no idea when they changed this, as

this is the first notification I have had. I have removed this from our Candida

Information.

If you have systemic candidiasis, can you ask your GP to give

you a prescription for this?. If not, try the

Hi ,I have just been on the intrenet to buy

this is not so, can anyone throw light on this please?

Hi Val, I too can never spell dire rear - so I always say

it and spell it like it is ' Dire Rear'

Luv - Sheil

Careful

with taking this as if taking for more than 1 day at a time it can cause

embarassing diahrea (I know the spelling is wrong!).
