Guest guest
I value everyone's comments, we're all here to learn. One size does not fit all. What works for someone may not work for me, but if it helps one person, that's a good thing. We all have different styles in how we share our knowledge on the board, we're all here to share and try to be sensitive to other's needs. I try to extract the pieces that might be helpful to me. Having Bartonella, I'm overly sensitive sometimes, someone can say something that will strike a nerve with me and not bother others. I've certainly learned a lot from all of you, and I hope everyone continues to share their information/experiences, knowledge is power! What doesn't help one person, might help another. I want to thank everyone for their input and experiences. I value this forum very much. Connie RE: [ ] Room for everyone's comments I am grateful for the time and energy Knotweed has invested in helping us to avoid some of the mines in the minefield of Lyme. Guest guest
I'm not sure how being negative to every single new idea being raised is helpful. Please advise. How will that help anybody get well or be creative in their care? Guest guest
Helping people to avoid interventions that will make them sicker - possibly irreversibly - IS helping them to get well. When you have chronic Lyme, most interventions WILL make you sicker. Have you noticed? Pointing out some of the mines in this minefield is not " negative " - it is a great service. From what I've seen, some list members value this, and some do not. No problem - if you don't like a certain member's posts, don't read them. Please put the torches and pitchforks away. Thank you. Guest guest
> > I'm not sure how being negative to every single new idea being raised is helpful. you are extremely biased because I sometimes comment negatively on some of the nonsense you keep spreading. I'm very positive about the Buhner protocol (that's what this group is about IMHO). I'm even trying to push scientific research in my country in this direction and I'm spending a lot of my time battling our own CDC regarding lyme diagnosis and treatment. I guess for some that is 'negative' because it might prove they don't have lyme at all I also value many other traditional / herbal treatments, but at the same time I want to see some evidence for new (often outrageous) health claim. I think it is good to warn people that they should not believe everything they read on the internet, especially when it comes to health claims/treatments. Guest guest
Hi all, Let's not forget that treating this disease often makes one " sicker " due to herx reactions. Many treatments " fail " because what seems to be making one worse might actually be effective with the corresponding unpleasant side effects. That is why so many people abandon them too quickly. Also, keep in mind that what works for one person may not work for another due to genetics, immune response, other underlying conditions, and lifestyle (diet, exercise, etc.) Wish I had posted in advance of last night's teleseminar with guest speaker Dr. Cowden, hosted by www.lymehope.com. Hopefully there will be an audio recording of the call posted soon. Check the web site. Dr. Cowden is the pioneer of what is now called the Cowden protocol (and the Cowden condensed protocol) using Nutramedix products. (By the way, I have not done the Cowden protocol but have heard of many of the products used, such as Banderol, Samento, and Cumanda.) He discussed the severity of some herx reactions and how they can put you in bed, in the hospital, or worse. (Also, some treatments require monitoring - liver enzymes for example - by a doctor to make sure the treatment doesn't damage healthy tissue.) So if a treatment makes one feel worse, this is not always a bad thing, although herxes need to be managed so they are not too severe. Cowden's protocol calls for burbur, parsley, and pinella as some of the detoxers when herxes strike. He suggested that if one does not detox, replenish nutrients and minerals, and drink plenty of water, getting well is very difficult. Also, using some elements of a protocol willy-nilly has shown not to be effective either and thus a person may discount the full protocol itself without giving it a try. As a newbie just a year ago, I felt paralyzed by all the negativity about ever getting well and did not know which way to turn because nothing supposedly works. I think people come to these groups for hope and become despondent by negative comments. It flies in the face of what we are trying to accomplish. There is a way to educate and guide without being negative. deb > > Helping people to avoid interventions that will make them sicker - possibly > irreversibly - IS helping them to get well. > > > > When you have chronic Lyme, most interventions WILL make you sicker.
