If anyone else has ideas regarding treating small children, would you please post? If you suspect congenital lyme, it may be another issue than a normal Bb spirochete infection and may need different treatment. If there is no real infections, ABX or anti-spirochetal herbs are useless. I have heard of a few such suspected congenital lyme cases, and it would not surprise me if these children have NO Borrelia infection at all, but instead have some (epi)genetic change or auto-immune like reaction due to the presence of spirochetes when the fetus was developing. Genetic or epigenetic changes occur with some forms of MS and schizophrenia that are probably caused by spirochete infection during pregnancy. Children might have an immune reaction against an antigen that is no longer present after birth, I would not blindly trust the serology in this case. Guest guest
A friend of ours has a son who was treated by Dr for 2 years. He still was getting worse. He has a positive Western Blot so that was actually very helpful. They have been borrowing a rife machine (DP100) for the last year and the mother says her son is doing great. His only current symptoms are some facial ticks. His MCS has cleared up as well as sever joint pain and lack of appetite. He is now in after school activities (gym) etc and also won awards at school for the first time ever. > [ ] Treatment for small children > > Thank you for posting the information from BetterHealthGuy.com... > > I recently put the puzzle together and realized that I most > probably had Lyme Disease since my childhood (and most > recently acquired a co-infection which made my symptoms > worse). Guest guest
Hi le, My son is showing some bothersome symptoms, which could be Lyme, but may not be. He is super active and acts out at times, is warm most afternoons and has trouble sleeping. I am not sure what else because he just turned three and cannot articulate his symptoms very well... I have to go by what I see. I just found out he is gluten and dairy sensitive and removed those from his diet three weeks ago. I have not noticed much improvement in the above listed symptoms, except that his chronic constipation has cleared up, yeah! So with a little one, I was just wondering how you would deal with antibiotics (swallowing pills) and herbs seeing the taste is very bitter? It is a general question for now, until I get him tested and know what I am dealing with. Thanks for sharing any experiences you may have had... Guest guest
***So with a little one, I was just wondering how you would deal with antibiotics (swallowing pills) and herbs seeing the taste is very bitter? It is a general question for now, until I get him tested and know what I am dealing with. *** Nicolle, My child is older but cannot swallow pills either--has extreme gag reaction--so with abx, we open the capsules and mix the powder with applesauce or babyfood. With herbs, we just recently started so are using only tinctures. Once I see how it goes, I will probably switch to the whole herb in powder form (or open capsules, etc.) and remain on the tinctures for those, like Eleuthero, that are prepared in that form. The tinctures I've been mixing in just plain water and/or lemon juice, applejuice, etc. Hope that helps, and I hope your little one feels better soon-- Mira

Guest guest
.. Sounds just like my daughter at that age. She was diagnosed with congenital Lyme (I knew I had Lyme while pregnant but treated during it and was told all would be fine). My daughter was also allergic/sensitive to wheat and dairy from birth (ended up switching her to Elecare (amino acid based formula) and then she was diagnosed at 2 with the Lyme and also with Autism (behaviors fit criteria... not uncommon in congenital Lyme). The aggressive antibiotic treatment by Dr. J in CT has resulted in an almost completely typical 5 year old at this point, but she can't get off the abx without backsliding. Btw, since 2 and even now she gets special ed to help cope with the cognitive and behavioral symptoms and it helps a lot. I highly suggest this if it is indicated. My daughter had lost some speech and didn't care if anyone was in the room and also had strong sensory integration problems with meltdowns for no apparent reason. But looking back at video I see signs from when she was very young... under 1 year old. We changed her diet to gluten free and casein free at 2 (more strict version of what she had been on) and that helps a lot with inattention and hyperactivity. I've 'tested' her with some gluten and dairy and sent her off to her special preschool without any warning. (LOL!) Anyway, they called because she was totally not herself and they were worried she was sick despite having no fever. Learning how to parent a child with these issues through the Autism community even though we really don't exactly 'fit' there has helped. I'm not saying your child will end up one of the Lyme kids presenting with Autism from the Lyme (which eventually is cured in most cases I'm told) but just in case I wanted to give you our background. Guest guest
If his test comes back positive, start treatment however you deem acceptable but don't hang around and wait for him to be crippled by it. If he has symptoms only, I'd start herbal treatment only and see what happens and if he reacts, I'd add antibiotics along with the herbs at least for a while doing the detox and probiotic protections of course. Most people don't get a positive test! If he gets one, ACT. If your son shows no reaction to any treatment... good or herxheimer, then you can go from there. Not doing anything at all is the WORST you could do IMO. I know you didnt' suggest you would not act, just wanted to state my opinion and that I feel this very strongly. I know personally what this disease can do to myself, my husband and my daughter's brain. Jen Lymie parents, 5yo Lymie/Aspie
