Cryptolepsis

Cryptolepsis is a shrub from the Asclepiadacea family. It has been used for

hundreds of years

in the treatment of many serious illnesses. It has the following benefits:

antiparasitic, antimalarial, antibacterial, antifungal. Human clinical trials

have shown cryptolepsis to be very effective in the

treatment of malaria. In fact, one of these trials showed this herb to clear

malarial symptoms in

a shorter time then its synthetic counterpart, chloroquine, and without the

side-effects associated

with that medication.

Taken Internally

Tea -- mix a teaspoon of cryptolepsis with 5 ounces of boiling water -- can be

taken up to twice a day

Tincture -- Make a 1:5 ratio mixture in 60 percent alcohol -- use between 20 -

40 drops up to four times

a day.

Capsule -- Take up to 3 capsules twice a day. Up to 20 capsules can be taken for

acute conditions provided

that you are under a homeopathic doctor's care.

Used Externally

Crush herb into a fine powder. It can be applied to an external bacterial or

fungal infection. Apply

up to four times per day.

*Caution -- While there are no warnings regarding this herb, people using it

should be aware that they may have, or may develop an allergy to cryptolepsis.

Should you develop a rash or experience any other odd symptoms while using this

herb, discontinue use of it immediately.

ALSO

MOST often spelled " cryptolepis " ? no " s "

There are a FEW different species in this genus so be careful...most often used

as antimalarial etc is C. sanguinolenta

also be aware that there confusingly?are plants whose SPECIES is " cryptolepis " :

as in Carex crytptolepis--I dont know?if even edible, let alone medicinal

you want GENUS cryptolepis!! ( itll be the FIRST name of the paired)

also used as HYPOGLYCEMIC ( helps Diabetes)...so be careful for those prone to

LOW blood sugar!!

ypu can try:

Thank you Finette, for the info on cryptolep(s)is. I think I'll hold

off taking it until I'm able to have an appt with the doc. I'll copy

the info to take with me. I have had a 'light headed' feeling as well

as the profound fatigue. My doc can guide me better.

I wanted to take something in addition to artemisinin since babesia

is known to come back after only art treatment. And I prefer not to

go on abx. But perhaps I will need to.

Anyway, I feel like an experimental animal in a lab!!! lol!!

But thanks again for the info. I was frustrated at my inability to

find anything beyond the part you sent in your first post.

Blessings, jo

Thank you for sharing your experience, Heidi. I have not felt well

enough to try it again. I do have the supply I need and will at some

point. Again, thanks for sharing and I hope if you learn anything else

that you will share it. jo

I started with a very low dose; maybe 5 to 10 drops 3/day. I think Buhner

recommends a teaspoon (or is it a tablespoon) 3/day as a full dose. I got up to

l tsp 3/day. jo

in water. That seems like alot to begin with, does anyone with experience with

this have an opinion about starting with a much lower dose? Also how much water

are they speaking of to mix it with? Thanks Doug

Judy, I went ahead with the full 20 and am into my second day. It was no big

thing, and side effects for me are just some tiredness. How did it affect your

babesia and  where are you now with your babesia? Thanks Doug

After treating with artemisinin, I followed up with cryptolepsis for 6 weeks

last fall after receiving a positive FISH test for babesia from IGENEX. My

retest showed negative for babesia.

I do not know if the babesia is completely gone. I've never known which symptoms

were from babesia, lyme or some other infection. However, I am not well, and

have episodes of sweats (which might be babesia, or lyme or soemthing else).

Sorry I can't be more definitive. That's one of the frustrations of this group

of infections. If the treatment did not completely eradicate it, it certainly

reduced the numbers for a while. jo

On Planet Thrive, says to call Woodland Essence for their current

recommendations re: babesia...I believe I posted several weeks ago a

conversation I had with Kate at WE. Basically, 2 mo of Cryptolepsis then switch

to 1 mo. of Artemisinin. Repeat sequence up to 8-12 mo. (Therefore, my personal

conclusion would be that 's initial recommendations in his book of only 2

mo. on cryp. is not enough--what do you all think?)I suggest more of us call

them and post feedback so we can compare notes.
