Guest guest
Hi and Connie, Sorry to group this in one post, but I am trying to consolidate for the sake of time. I don't have a lot of info about the fluid shifts. I heard about it from a LLMD at a lyme conference. Apparently babesia can cause really weird symptoms. I get facial swelling. It is not your typical swelling that you would expect. Most people get the ankle, feet or hand and finger type. Babesia can cause the unusual water edema pattern. I would look into a couple of things. For ankle and feet I would look at vascular tone. Remedies like horse chestnut and butchers broom help to increase vascular integrity and circulation. I also look at kidney drainage as well because fluid retention can be a sign of kidney deficiency in chinese medicine. There is a product called fill the ocean. I am not sure of the company off hand, but you can probably google it. I would think any good kidney support would work well. I also use extra potassium for me. I tend to run low and you can have fluid retention with low potassium. I do believe that lymph back up is a cause. I have tested for babesia in my head area. i get bad trigeminal as well as earaches. I use guasha( a ceramic chinese spoon) with some massage oil and scrape the areas under my jaw and ear. it does help to drain my face. Asparagus is a good diuretic . It does not demineralize you like conventional diuretics. I only suggest this if you really need to deflate :-) Most of the time I prefer to go the mineral or drainage root. Okay, onto the mono/lyme component. I really understand the sick kid/ sick self syndrome. My oldest son has multiple infections(EBV, parvo, coxsackie, etc.) My youngest has lyme/bart and lyme induced aspergers. We have worked our way through tourettes, seizures, and bipolar. he still has apregers and bart, but we are now free of the other symptoms. I have EBV like your daughter as well as lyme, babs, and some other coinfections. Lastly, both of my parents have been criticaly ill with cdiff and pseudomonas infections. Life has become a pressure cooker. Both my sons are teens and I definitely understand the need for control. I would sit down with her(as I am sure that you already have and discuss how you can both work together. I would try to give her several alternatives for each category or symptom that you need to address. WIll she take any type of bath? If she will, have her try six cups of baking soda in warm water. It helps to alkalize and gently detox. I would also give her one day off a week with no remedies. Dr. J. from Kansas is a big proponent of that. It is good mentally as well as it gives your body a break. Your daughter might really appreciate that freedom. Her exhaustion may be coming from too much killing. She is on a lot of antimicrobials. I would sooner try less remedies and rotate them more often so the bugs don't get acclimated to your protocol. From personal experience(I have addison's so I am chronically fatigued)I find that mitochondria rescue is huge. Your energy can get derailed not only from infection, but from fighting the infection. Your daughter needs a stronger core to heal. Pekana has a protocol that involves several homeopathics: Nuregen, daletktro, psystabil, and viscum. It helps to calm the system down both mentally and physically and stabilize energy and the nervous system. It can get pricey though. D-ribose is a good energy source, but some say to avoid it with heavy yeast issues. I find I tolerate it well in small doses. I would also get Teitelbaum's book " from fatigued to fantastic " . He is the guru of chronic fatigue and he has a lot of good ideas to help get energy back as well fight infection. Sleep is of tremendous importance. if she is not getting enough sleep(refreshing sleep) she will have a harder time. I would also check hormone levels as well. Mono can derail your thyroid. Check for adrenal fatigue as well. There is also an inexpensive formula from Brent called Revive all. It is a combo of live flower essences(not bach) that can have a profound effect on mood and energy. Our kids are depressed because they are at an age where fitting in is paramount. They feel like lepers. There is a ton more that I can write but this post is getting cumbersome at best. If you have any more questions, please let me know. i am truly happy to help. Take care, Peggy > It is overwhelming being sick and having sick kids. Anyone else relate? > > Thanks, > >
Guest guest
Hi Connie, I just remembered another thing to help with lymph drainage. My LLND recommended poke root oil to help with lymph stagnation. He said it is fabulous. It is also great for cystic breasts or for breasts that have lymph back up(that area is a major drainage spot.). I have not tried ot myself yet. I just ordered some from mountain rose herbs. I will keep you posted on my progress. Do you rebound? My back does not love a rebounder, but I use a pilates ball. I just sit on it and gently bounce. I have had good success with it. Hope some of this helps. Have a great night. Peggy
Guest guest
I looked up rebounders online. Some are crazy expensive for that little thing. However, we DO have a big TheraBall, and I will put Abby on that for detoxing lymph! That should be really good for the mono! > > Hi Connie, > I just remembered another thing to help with lymph drainage. My LLND > recommended poke root oil to help with lymph stagnation. Guest guest
Hi Connie, You can combine the two because the poke root oil is topically applied. It is used a s a massage oil on lymph drainage areas. A rebounder is a trampoline, so I am thinking that is out for you. I have babesia and I have heart stuff and breathlessness. I have really little exercise tolerance. I can manage to gently bounce on a pliates ball for a few minutes though. I am using Khella and healthy heart(both from herb pharm) and I have been doing much better. Look them up when you get the chance. Take care, Peggy > > > Hi Peggy, > > I've been thinking about trying poke root. I'm taking red root currently and I can feel it helping my spleen. Do you know if I can take both at the same time? I'll see if I can find out. > > I don't know what rebounding is. But, if it's aerobic I can't do it. My heart is the biggest problem I have with Lyme and I can't walk up stairs without my chest starting to hurt and my breath getting short. I can only manage 20-30 minutes of yoga everyday. > > Thanks for the ideas! > > > Connie > > > > -----Original Message----- > > > > . >
