Guest guest
Here's the info. on VSL I was able to get it w/o a rx order. There are some companies on-line willing to sell it. My dr. even asked me for this info. because he said a lot of his patients are coming in w/c diff. and regular probiotics don't seem to be strong enough. VSL3 Product Features It contains 8 different strains of beneficial bacteria that were specially selected to produce an optimal composition of beneficial bacteria. 2 capsules contain 225 billion live lactic acid bacteria, which collectively act as a Living Shield in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. VSL#3 is supplied in a bottle containing 60 capsules. Vegetable capsules. Average costs range between $44 - 46 dollars. Product needs to be refrigerated. There is also packets that contain 450 billion live lactic acid bacteria, it's quite costly, for 30 packs it's about $75 - $78 You can google VSL#3 and all the companies that sell it will pop up. I've tried most of the brands you can buy in the stores and they weren't strong enough for long term ABX use. It's supposed to be one of the best you can buy, I guess it's cheaper than flying to France to get the good stuff! Regards, L. Guest guest
VSL#3 comes in a Rx strength that is double the over the counter one...it is called VSL#3DS My LLMD prefers the packets to the capsules and yes, it still needs refrigeration unless you are traveling with it and have to have it. If you have a copay with insurance the double strength is affordable. ________________________________ From: " alicia.colon@... Guest guest
because it is a Rx, insurance will cover it....people with other illnesses also need this, not just us lymies insurance companies will insist on generics when they can, but otherwise they are not to override a MD's orders....I don't think you'll have a problem, but you could ask ahead of time, too many MD's are unfamiliar with it coming in a Rx strength ________________________________ From: le Handy <kndplus2@...> Sent: Mon, August 30, 2010 11:28:38 PM Subject: Re: [ ] OT re: probiotics so this is a probiotic that you can get from your doctor as a prescription and is filled at the pharmacy??? i thought this would be considered a supplement? danielle On Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 3:34 PM, Eileen Murray <efmurray@...> wrote: > > > VSL#3 comes in a Rx strength that is double the over the counter one...it > is > called VSL#3DS > My LLMD prefers the packets to the capsules and yes, it still needs > refrigeration unless you are traveling with it and have to have it. > If you have a copay with insurance the double strength is affordable. > > ________________________________ > From: " alicia.colon@... <alicia.colon%40ey.com> " ><alicia.colon@...<alicia.colon%40ey.com> > > > > < %40> > Sent: Mon, August 30, 2010 3:56:36 PM > Subject: Re: [ ] OT re: probiotics > > > Here's the info. on VSL I was able to get it w/o a rx order.
