Guest guest
My 9 yo son is also on the Buhner protocol and our doctor told us to go by weight. As per Buhner's response on Planet Thrive <http://planetthrive.com/2009/04/protocol-for-young-teenage-girl/> , " Yes, the Healing Lyme herbal protocol is fine for children. Just lower the dose to adjust for her weight—divide her weight (in pounds) by 150. " My son is doing fine with the protocol. I did start him out slower bringing him up to the max. He hasn't had any adverse reactions to the herbs other than herxing. He is only on the herbs. I decided to try the herbal protocol without antibiotics first since he had Lyme for over a year. I hope that helps, Tami > > Hello everyone, > > I'm wondering if anyone here can tell me about using the Buhner protocol > for children- is it safe, and if so, what are the dosages? Guest guest
Thank you Tami! Your input is GREATLY appreciated. Anything you can tell me is helpful, since it seems we are in similar situations. I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not to put my daughter back on antibiotics. She tested " borderline positive " with the C6 , which, if I understand correctly, is not considered reliable, especially since she definitely had Lyme before. I might just have her tested again with the Western Blot. I have a month's worth of antibiotics here in my kitchen, but I cannot decide what to do with them. I don't want to risk driving the spirochetes deeper, making them encyst, making them smarter against Amoxicillin, unless it's clearer to me that it's the best way to go. She seemed fine today without any medicine. I worry that if we start doing antibiotics, assuming she has chronic lyme, we'll never get back to the shape she's in now (energetic, mentally focused and active, with some discomfort.) It seems the children who are the worse off have been on antibiotics the longest, and I've wondered if there is a tipping point where the antibiotics destroy natural immunity. I simply don't know- any information is helpful. Sorry this was so long. Best wishes to you all!
