Taking herbs when unable to swallow pills?

My child has a major gagging reflex and is unable to swallow pills of any kind.

She is currently on abx and takes them mixed into applesauce (open capsules and

empty contents into food).

Since she seems to have plateaued on abx, I'm hoping to add in Buhner's herbs.

Is it possible to take his protocol by opening the capsules and mixing them into

food, like I do with the abx? (I know some meds, herbs can actually burn the

esophagus or stomach lining if not taken in the protective capsule--also some

are less effective--anyone have info regarding this and/or is doing this

themselves due to gag reflex?
