Are tinctures easier on the gut?

Do they even get broken down in the gut?

Or is most of it absorbed and into the bloodstream once in the body?

*Just trying to figure out how tinctures work?

I'd like to know this too! Does anyone understand how tinctures work?

You're body doesn't have to do as much physical digestion with a tincture as

with a pill. Also, some herbs have constituents that are more soluble in

alcohol, some more in water - so it depends herb by herb which way it's better

to take. Some, like echinacea, have different compounds like this, so it works

best to actually take a couple different delivery systems at the same time (like

a cup of tea with a squirt of tincture in it, and a pill). I don't know about

difference in bloodstream absorption.

I do know that too many tinctures will bother your stomach the same way doing

shots of vodka would, if you don't dilute enough (I burned my esophagus with a

vitex/nettles tincture once a while ago b/c I was too lazy to put in water and

was squirting it in my mouth for a month!). But, digesting capsules could be a

problem too, if you have digestive issues.
