Guest guest
In no way did my comments write off the " survivability " of the cyst " mode " . All spirochetes can wrap around themselves and form cysts that seem inert and later give birth to daughter spirochetes. That doesn't mean they are aerosolized or anything approaching that possibility. It means they can go dormant in the appropriate host and become active later on. Many microbes have similar abilities and can go into dormant modes that in fact are fairly resistant to antibiotics. > > I wouldn't so hastily write off the survivability of the cyst mode unless you have documented trials to proof otherwise. Its a far different microbe then its adult parent.......... > > >
Guest guest
, Firstly, I wasn't commenting on whether or not lyme can be passed via breastmilk. I was warning nursing mothers to make sure they protect their breasts' filtering system if they choose to quit nursing and then resume. Having said that, and to be completely honest, I do not believe lyme can be transmitted via breastmilk. You are right, Dr. is a well respected pediatric lyme doctor. I highly respect him myself. But, I also believe that lyme is not transmitted via breastmilk. I might be wrong, but I have not been impressed with the data in the studies. Even if Dr. was able to isolate that the 12 children out of 5000 got it via breastmilk (which I doubt he can), we don't know the circumstances surrounding it. The article by Dr. Howenstine, MD. states: " Dr. Ray , the leading pediatric specialist on Lyme Disease, has found 12 breast fed children who have developed LD. " That doesn't indicate causality between breast-feeding and LD. Many times a mother can prevent the spread of her illness by breastfeeding her child. When I had a nasty virus, my doc told me the best thing I could do was to nurse my son through it. I did, and he didn't get sick. Maybe the same can happen with lyme. I don't know the answers, but I don't think the docs know for sure, either. And, I am not trying to start a war-- just voicing my opinion and enjoying reading the opinions of others such as yourself. ~M My blog: www.iammimi.com
