I've been tested for Celiac's and came out neg., I too have the thick

blood, it's Lyme related, I have such trouble giving blood now, they can

barely find a vein and when they do, it drips so slowly, I tell the nurses

to go start another patient, they're gonna be there awhile! :)

yes, I think 'thick blood' is a general lyme problem. Could be related to

bugs, or maybe to celiac disease or similar problems that often go

together with Lyme. Some naturopaths indeed say that the 'clotting'

(Rouleaux etc.) is caused by too many toxins or wrong food stuff in the

blood. Don't know if that is really the cause ...

Maybe I'm misunderstanding here, but if you have Lyme disease, I wouldn't be

donating blood. V

Some places might say that, but when my daughter found out she had Lyme disease

a month after giving blood, she called the donating place and asked them to

please destroy her blood. They told her that they do not test for Lyme disease

and didn't want to waste their time checking out her donation. My daughter was

really upset at the thought that she may have given someone Lyme disease. V

I gave blood for almost 30 years (and stopped when I realized I could share

what I had thru my blood), but no, the blood bank doesn't even ask or really

recognize that there is such a physical risk contracting Lyme.

The only plus is at least most receipients are on antibiotics, maybe the

bugs get nuked before they arrive.

in my country (Netherlands) blood donors are not checked for lyme either, and

the bloodbanks suggest that it is OK to donate if you 'have had Lyme' (which

probably means for them, when the EM is gone - but of course most of the times

the Borrelia never disappears).

Many years ago already someone found that 20% of the blood supply in my country

is contaminated with Borrelia; must be even higher nowadays.

I'm not sure if it is a serious risk though, probably the bugs are far more

dangerous if they enter the body through a tick byte (fresh Borrelia organisms,

probably adapted to the specific host).
