I think Buhner says somewhere you should not take it in the evening (after 18

hours or so) because of potential sleep problems. Do you take one dose in the

evening maybe?

I did not have this problem with eleuthero, but I'm probably not representative.

Even a cup of coffee 1-2 hours before bedtime is not a problem for me.

I only take 2 doses, first thing in the morning and at mid-day. This seems to

help my sleep issues. I don't get the full day advantage of the eleuthero but

it helps a lot and sleep is so important!

Regarding sleeplessness- maybe once or twice if I took it after 3 PM.

I've gone off the eleuthero for two weeks, (as Buhner suggests on pg 137) and I

miss the energy boost.

I didn't have any interest in caffeine while I was taking it, but now I do.

There may be several reasons for that, but I'm looking forward to the additional

energy. My best guess is it supported my adrenal glands, which then allowed my

thyroid to function better- but that's just a guess.

Judy.

Thank you for your advice. I have found that if I take a dose at noon, insomnia

comes on. Have you noticed any change in using eleurhero over time? I'm

wondering if in time I might adjust to a larger dose.

Thanks Again.

I have a bottle sitting on the counter just waiting to be started. However,

I already have sleep issues....11pm last night, and I'm not ready for bed.

Not good when the alarm starts at 5.

I do plan to start and will let you know my experience. What dosage did you

drop to?

I've had similar isues-- with ginseng and with other adrenal support aids. I

make sure to take only before noon, and take tryptophan and phosphitydal serine

at bedtime to help me sleep. Works pretty well.

I haven't been taking it long enough to know..only about 6 weeks and

I'm not consistent. Sleep is a constant battle and when I found,

after my first few doses, that I couldn't sleep, I stopped taking it

past 12:00 and my sleep is back to it's 'normal' pattern.

It's a constant challenge trying to find the right dose/balance with

all these herbs (and everything else in life!)

I've been using eleuthero off and on for 10 months (core protocol and

sarsaparilla also 10 months; supps and abx 2 years). My typical dosage is 1

dropperful AM and then again early to mid afternoon, never after 4:00 PM as

recommended by Buhner. On a day when I really have to push it, like driving all

day for LLMD appt, I may do two dropperfuls or add a third dose. This amount

works really well for me for energy and alertness without any raciness.

I do go through long stretches when I don't use it, sometimes because I fell

well and don't need it and sometimes when I know I need to nap during the day

because I'm not well or didn't sleep at night.

I take the conservative maintenance dosage. 1:5 60%, 30 drops, 3x's/day

It's been amazing. Helps with energy, mental focus, sleep, etc etc

I make my own tincture... cuts the cost by like 80% lol

It's a must if you're going to treat Lyme for a yr or so
