Guest guest
Stephania and Andrographis are totally different IMO. Andrographis has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal properties (and others, I'm sure). I have not used this herb as a part of the Buhner protocol per se, only prior to my diagnosis when I was working with an ND who was thinking I might have a viral issue. Definitely had some herx reaction to it. I do think you can pulse it or work it into a rotation so that you are not on it constantly. You could also do a phone consult with Tim about it - he may have some ideas. From: canefan18@... I'm on Tim's formula at greendragonbotanicals. and I can't get above 5 caps/day and I'm suspecting it's because the andrigraphis. Does anybody pulse andrographis? or is stephania a good substitute for andrographis? _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the old busy. Guest guest
, I'm assuming that you're saying that the severity of your herx response is the reason why you can't get above 5 caps/day. is this accurate? What are you herx symptoms? Why do you supect it's the Andro that's causing it? I'm having a similar problem: I'm still at 4 caps/day after 4 months on the protocol. For me, I'm thinking it's because of my high heavy metals count (Hg and Pb). Guest guest
It has been some time, but if I remember correctly, my LLMD told me that stephania was a good sustitute for andrographis. I liked andrographis and felt intuitively that it was good for my system; however after several months I did develop a mild rash from it so I stopped using it and substituted stephania. Stephania is better as a tincture or glycerite than as powder. jo > > Since Andrographis seems to kick so much ASS!! lol > > What about taking Buhner's core protocol(knotweed, cats, eleuthero) and pulse Andrographis in at low doses? > > I'm on Tim's formula at greendragonbotanicals. and I can't get above 5 caps/day and I'm suspecting it's because the andrigraphis. > > > Does anybody pulse andrographis? or is stephania a good substitute for andrographis? >

He initially used andrographis because stephania was difficult to get in the US, and it is not available as a product with standardized content. Andrographis has antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal properties (and others, I'm sure). yes, they have different properties but the way that Buhner chooses the herbs is not really based on science IMHO. Most of the Buhner herbs have overlap in their properties anyway.
