Cat's Claw is tough...Maybe try Samento.........

[ ] Japanese Knotweed -- Trying to Get on Full Protocol

Has anyone had trouble getting up to the full protocol? I can't seem to get past

5 tablets of Japanese Knotweed/day given the digestive issues. (It took a very

long time -- 6 weeks -- to get to 4 pills, and then the increase to 5 was even

difficult). If 5 pills represents bowel tolerance, could that be a sufficient

dose to knock down the Lyme? (I'm unable to tolerate the Cat's Claw due to

autoimmune issues, so I'm really not taking much in the way of the full protocol

at this time.) Would appreciate anyone's thoughts.

There's a Q & A section on the website Planet Thrive with Buhner.

Looking through the archives you can find answers directly from him. I know

I've seen him address tolerance issues frequently. You can post your own

questions as well. As I recall he states not everyone needs to get to the

amounts in his book, if they're not tolerated. He stresses that Japanese

Knotweed is the most important of the core protocol herbs.

What are the inactive ingredients in the tablets? Microcrystalline cellulose and

stearic acid (or magnesium stearate) cause me digestive distress as do many

other corn derivatives. Maybe you could try pure powder and put it into capsules

yourself or is there already a capsule with no other ingredients? I just started

making a decoction from the whole root and have had no problems with it yet. I

purposely chose to do decoctions because of the issues I have with additives and

fillers and binders. I think a lot of people have issues with them but it isn't

really obvious until they start taking more than a couple of pills occasionally.
