Tramadol is a pain reliever that's often prescribed off-label to people with _fibromyalgia_ (http://chronicfatigue.about.com/od/whatisfibromyalgia/a/what_is_fms.htm) . The FDA ordered the change because of increased suicide risk in people who are prone to addiction, or who are also taking anti-depressants or tranquilizers; and also because of tramadol-related deaths in people with a history including either emotional problems or abuse of alcohol, tranquilizers, and other drugs that impact the central nervous system. Guest guest
I use tramadol occasionally when a pain flare just gets too much to live with. I only use half a pill, and never more than 1/2 pill for two days. It definitely makes me feel 'happy' and then there is a let down when it wears off. So I can see how someone using more would get depressed. Used extremely judiciously it has been helpful for me. But I'm SO careful to use it VERY sparingly. And another intersting thing is that is can actually give me a headache so if I have one threatening I don't use it! Intersting that you use it for migraine. jo > > Thank-you for posting this - I just took 2 for a migraine - ggggrrrrrrr > > > > _____ > > From: > [mailto: ] On Behalf Of lizzianthus007@... > Sent: Wednesday, June 30, 2010 3:35 PM > isuewhu@...; ; > ; massachusettslyme > Subject: [ ] Suicide warning for Tramadol/nicola/group > > > > > > > may be off topic ? > > but some of us may have gotten that medication > > > > ____________________________________ > > > > > _http://chronicfatighttp://chhttp://chrohttp://chronicfhttp://chronicfhttp:/ > /chronicfahttp_ > (http://chronicfatigue.about.com/b/2010/06/17/warnings-about-tramadol-for-fi > bromyalgia.htm) > > Warnings About Tramadol for Fibromyalgia > Thursday June 17, 2010 > NEWSBRIEF: The warning label on drugs containing _tramadol_ > (http://drugsaz.about.com/od/drugs/tramadol.htm) (_Ultram_ > (http://drugsaz.about.com/od/drugs/ultram.htm) , _Ultracet_ > (http://drugsaz.about.com/od/drugs/ultracet.htm) ) now includes the risk of > suicide and overdose.
