Maggie, Don't have surgery is my advice! Get yourself to a really good Lyme

Literate doctor (LLMD) ASAP who will put you on the appropriate medication

for the lyme. Have the gallstones removed with sonic waves if you can. The

surgery will probably throw you into a lot more problems with your Lyme

because of the trauma of the surgery and the antibiotics that will be used

with the surgery. It might be a " trigger event " that might cause you to have

more problems due to the surgery. In my case, I had a total hysterectomy and

immediately began to show Fibromyaglia symptoms and it took over a year and

a wonderful Lyme specialist to find the underlying cause and I have been on

oral antibiotics for over 7 months (started with 2 Biaxin XL 500 mg for 4

months, then every month, I have been able to add in 2 Amoxicillan 500 mg,,

then the next month, 2 more Amoxicilan 500 mg., and again this past month 2

more Amoxicillan 500 mg, so now I am on 8 antibiotics per day with each

being 500 mg. Both of these antibiotics do different things in your body to

the bacteria, spirochetes that are in lyme. You also may have

" co-infections " that need to be dealt with by a Lyme specialist! My LLMD

is a neurologist and is so knowledgeable about Lyme! You are feeling tired,

weak, worn out and sleepy, because your body is fighting a terrible battle

against the spirochetes and you are having a reaction to the " die off " of

these organisms. The die off causes a Herxheimer Reaction and I have been

totally bedridden for over 7 months until just this week, I am able to sit

up and do a few things for myself! Of course I see my LLMD tomorrow so he

will probably need to up my medication, or possibly change it, which means I

will probably get ill again ( I call it " going down " ) but I am willing to do

anything to get well again and be able to go back to teaching. Be sure to

list your self and your question on this site where you live and where you

would be willing to travel to visit a good LLMD and ask them to write to you

off line with that information about the LLMD.

Also, be sure you have Short Term and Long Term Disability in place and

that you start to document every day on how you are feeling, your symptoms,

temperature, of your body several times a day ( I take mine before getting

out of bed & @ every 2-3 hours to show how the antibiotics are working ( I

get fever and chills often during the day - it is called " shake and bake " ),

medication, etc. because the road is long and hard, but when you think of

the alternatives, it is well worth the time out to get better again! If you

need a friend, feel free to write me off line. The problem is that I do not

always get on the computer, it just depends on how I feel that day. But I

don't want you to go into this surgery and treatment for lyme not knowing

what you may be having to deal with in the near future! Be sure you choose a

PPO also! That way you will more likely be covered while being treated! Keep

me posted on how you are doing and get in to see an LLMD ASAP! By the by, my

mother's name was Maggie!Remember this is all advice from various people who

have a variety of opinions, but you will learn alot here! KC in TX
