Hi folks,

I live in Monterey County, CA on the edge of the Los Padres Nat'l

Forest. We have lots and lots of ticks here. I woke up Tuesday

morning with an embedded tick-which was not engorged, in my armpit.

We removed it the wrong way (smeared it with neosprin before removal-

it came out easily. The next day a rash started to develop and was

eventually about 3 inches by 5 inches. No other symptoms exist 5 days

later and 2 days into the antibiotics mentioned below.

I called the doctor's office and was told it was probably just an

allergic reaction to the bite, but if it would make me feel any

better, they would call in a prescription for 500mg Amoxicillin 3x

daily for 2 weeks. (Doctor told the nurse if it was Lyme, which is

rare around here, that I would have a rash at places other than the

bite site!) Clearly not up to snuff on LD.

I know that isn't enough time on the antibiotic and happen to be

seeing my new, regular doctor tomorrow and will ask for a refill. I

have other health issues which are in check right now and want to

make sure I eliminate the possibility of Lyme's with proper

treatment. My question is this: if after 4 weeks on the amoxicillin

(assuming the doctor will give me more) can I just forget about this

if there are no symptoms or should I seek a Lyme literate doctor

asap?? THANKS FOR ANY HELP!
