Guest guest
Hey Everyone: I found some $69 rooms in Wash., D.C. - actually in Arlington. I used to like DoubleTree (weekends half price, about $80) but that is 179$ during week and full May 3, I was trying to negotiate a group rate. I am negotiating for Day's Inn in Arllington, so far $69 but a bigger discount if it is 10 rooms or more. That rate was on basis of 2 people per room, imagine if it was four it would be slightly higher. I did ask, the rooms open to the exterior. It has a free shuttle to the Metro Station and I will not guarantee which station it is but the station the Doubletree ran to in Arlington was right in front of a BIG shopping mall with places to eat. So you could catch the shuttle to the mall too. The Metro has escalators and most places in D.C. it has elevators too. I will not swear to the Arlington end, I don't remember. So those who cannot do stairs don't have to. Maps are well posted and at each observation booth (by entrance where you use tickets you get out of a machine) there are paper maps, too. The whole Metro is color coded. Meanwhile I am looking for rates for a place that does NOT open to the outside. Arlington is much safer than D.C., is about a 12 min. drive so I am told. There are a lot of people out at night because across from the mall is a walk-in (arcade) type mall and a strip of restaurants on the street, including one that is buffet with a name that has to do with markets, I don't remember it. I am asking for the rates for nights of May 2 and May 3 - just in case somebody (like me) wants to stay over and see sights (Great Art for free, several museums). If you are interested could you e-mail me - tonight would be good - altho it doesn't have to be but I told them to call me back tomorrow before 9:30 a.m. and then I should know if we are interested in under 10 rooms or over 10. At this point it is not a commitment, just an interest you are sending me a note about. Please e- me if you are interested - even if it is after 9:00 Sat a.m. Jeannine/MisTick/ParTayTick (after SBOG!)
