New List Owner

Hello Everyone,

My name is Robynn , and I am your new list owner / chief moderator. I hope most of you know me, but for those of you who are new, or just don’t know much about me, please allow me to introduce myself to you.

I was diagnosed with Lyme in 1992. I believe I actually contracted Lyme in 1982. In 1993 the State Medical Board here in Oregon investigated my doctor for over use of antibiotics. After his hearing the board said my doctor’s use of antibiotics made them "uncomfortable" and they wished for him to stop treating Lyme patients with more than two weeks of antibiotics. It was clear that if my doctor did not do as the board wished, he would end up losing his medical license. My doctor then spun his 100 + Lyme patients off to different doctors and went back into emergency medicine full-time.

Since then I have struggled at times to get adequate care. Though by now I have a pretty good system in place. I have a good Primary Care doc and I always have access to the latest technologies thanks to the web. While I am no where near my past fire fighting ability, I am doing much better than I was.

It is with great sadness that I am taking over Marta’s duties. Marta has been an excellent list owner! She has assured me she will stay in touch with the list, but we all understand her decision to take care of herself now.

No one can replace Marta here, not even I. I am simply going to do my best. But I need to ask each and every one of you for so much help! Especially those who have been here a while. Marta was sure everyone got an answer to their question, a welcome, some praise, or much needed encouragement. There is no way I am going to be able to keep on top of everyone in that same way. I really need all of you to look out for each other. I need your help welcoming people. I need your help ensuring everyone gets some kind of answer to their question(s). I need your help with just about everything.

I am so confident though that this will not be a problem. This list has grown so much! We have over 200 members now! And it is because people can come here for support, answers and friendship. All of you are so warm and friendly. I am so happy that many of you have had a chance to meet each other in person this past year. Alas, I am on the other side of the country. But I look forward to someday meeting all of you too.

The largest change that will take effect is that I expect members of this list to be in charge of their own subscriptions. Please do not send unsubscription requests to the list. You can easily unsubscribe by sending a blank email to

-unsubscribeegroups . If you send your request to the list, it may take me a little while to get to it.

I know this list will change some without Marta’s presence here. But by no means am I going to make major changes! This list is for all of you. You are the ones who make this list what it is. And it is a wonderful list to be a part of. I am truly honored to be a part of your list.
