Guest guest Posted July 27, 2001 Report Share Posted July 27, 2001 Hi Nelly and group, I have a question about Lyme and cardiac involvement.What do you think causes the cardiac symptoms? Is it inflamation of the heart? heart muscle weakening? autonomic nervous system problems? low blood pressure? I have read alot of abstracts about how Lyme manifests with cardiac symptoms but I didn't really pick up how it happens. Also, Nelly, I know you have had alot of arrythmias through your ordeal, have you ever had heart block that is written about? As you know alot of my symptoms are cardiac also and it took me 12 years to get diagnosed........I was 22 when I first became ill and it seems like I have lost so much of my life right now ( though I try not to dwell on this point.) I have to say I wish I was in Lyras shoes and woke up with half my face paralyzed right from the onset. Any local doc would have recognized that as Bells Palsy and I would have had a much swifter recovery (alot fewer ambulance rides, ER visits, weeks in CCU, 2 heart surgerys, months of being bedridden while life goes on around you, 1/2 day long rides to reach doctors that don't think you are really sick anyway, basically just all the bullsh*t we deal with daily..).....
