Dear Friends,

Texas Senator , our powerful Lyme Disease advocate, and a Lyme

patient himself, sworn in as “Governor for a Day.”

Senator is largely responsible for the success of the 3-phase Texas

Senate Hearings on Lyme Disease held during the year 2000. He has a hard-hitting

reputation, and didn’t let the insurance henchmen, medical reviewers, and other

government types get away with their justification for the harassment of our

doctors and the denial of treatment for Lyme patients.

I’ve included a couple of snips from the article, but thought you would like to

read the entire piece on this wonderful, powerful ally and fellow patient.

Love ya, Rose

<snip>… has stuck up for kids' Medicaid, for better Texas insurance and

for seniors' health care, and not only because he recently had Lyme

disease.<snip>

<snip>, a Republican, has emerged during the present legislative session

as an outspoken advocate for increasing social service spending. As vice

chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee, he enhanced the " junkyard

dog " reputation he gained in the House by doing battle with the heads of human

service agencies and the Texas Department of Public Safety.<snip>
