Sometimes in life we do not see the changes and growth that need to take place. What happens then is that destiny steps in and begins the process for us. We all have many life lessons to get through and all of us here have more than our share of hardship. However, if we can turn these low times and hardships into the positive we can begin to understand how spirit works in our lives. Many of us are sick in order to understand and help others with their disease(s). Sue, you are one of the greatest advocates and caring people in the Lyme community that I know. I am always amazed at the depth of your compassion and unselfish ways. With all that you are going through with yourself and your family having Lyme, you are always there to encourage, inform, and help others. (I am honored to know you in person too ). Perhaps in Madeline's case, one of the things she needs to learn from this is who her real friends are and if necessary, to move on and make new ones. And believe me... they are out there! I have changed almost all of my friends in the past few years! I believe we have all become much stronger human beings from our experiences. As difficult as having Lyme is, we must learn from it and realize that it is not a punishment. It is simply a challenge our spiritual selves have taken on for this lifetime. I know that everyone does not share these beliefs, but it sure helps when we are at our lowest. Remember also that when we are at our lowest, there is no where to go but up . Keep the faith and believe in yourselves. For some reason we have been chosen to carry this dreadful disease. But I for one have had many positive things happen from it. I found the best friend in the world who is there for me always. I found the love of my life who ended up having Lyme! He was sick for 6 years with no answers and totally devastated when I met him. He is now doing wonderful after only 6 months of treatment . My children and family see me in a new light and we share so much more and have become closer. The only negative was my divorce last year, but it had nothing to do with the Lyme. It has been a very positive thing though and my ex and I are still good friends and of course share parenting our 2 kids. Finances are often a struggle, but with lots of prayer and working as much as I can, I get by. I have faith that will get better in time also. I just want everyone to know that all of us Lymies have been very low and depressed at times, but it DOES get better .
