Guest guest
Hi, I am looking through past posts in search of the woman who is no severely sight impaired due to Lme. Was that on this board or another? So far i have found nothing here I am having increasing problems with my vision although I am on IV Rocephin x 6 months and now I am on Bicillin shots weekly. If anyone can tell me who the woman is I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, a
Guest guest
I am having some slight problems with eyesight.......it was through my eyes, that it was first detected their was a problem with my immune system (before knowing it was lyme) I have had continuous problems with Iritis in my right eye.........we get it quieted down, and it becomes inflamed again, causing irritation and blurriness...at one point, I actually had an injection in my eyeball....OUCH! This has been going on since the beginning of my Lyme six years ago....but even though I am in remission from symptoms, this eye is still very inflamed. I am being seen by a Lyme Literate Ophthalmologist recommended by my Lyme Dr. She has been working on it for a year now. She has now recommended I go to my Primary Care Physician to see if something else might be going on in my body. She said the constant eye inflammation can cause damage to the eye.........so its important to keep it quiet...........and of course we do that with Prednisone drops. Guest guest
Hi a, I am with the Michigan Lyme Disease Assoc. We have a child who was blind from lyme for 3 years. He has since had his sight restored and got his drivers license. When I first got lyme, my sight was awful. I had just gotten new glasses recently and was about to return them when my sight got better. It still gets bad off and on, I know it is lyme and just wait for it to pass. Ihave had lyme for 8 years, so I am getting used to these things. The problems are less severe. I have to stay on antibiotics or I cannot function at all. Antibiotics control my lyme like Dilantin does epilepsy. I am not making the symptoms of lyme small. I would give just about anything to not have them. But now when my eyesight gets bad I don't panic, because it always clears up. Good luck, Hugs, Connie, MI
Guest guest
Don't let the eye problem go untreated..........it can cause irreversible damage in some cases. I too am having problems............without any other lyme symptoms. The eye will not quiet down. I am currently seeing a lyme literate ophthalmologist. Neither of us.......believe the eye is still reacting to lyme. It looks like I will have to undergo some blood testing to see what may be going on. My primary care physician is proposing I go to a special eye center in Philadelphia. The more Iritis and Uveitis, that goes on in the eye.....the more damage that can become permanent. Its important to determine if the inflammation is due to infection, or due to an immune system being disturbed by Lyme Bacteria. There is a difference.
