Guest guest
Good Morning Donna! My immune system is also broken - we haven't pinpointed the exact cause yet but my T-cells are elevated (the opposite of what happens with AIDS), my B-cells are low, and I had only one - count'em - ONE natural killer cell. I don't know anything about the doc in Houston, but the doc in Bedford has referred me to an immunologist, as well as a hematologist. He is extremely bright, very creative (in other words, will work within the parameters given by insurance company, although sometimes through the back door and methodical in ordering tests. Not all of them at once, no overkill.......but as each test result comes back, he makes decisions based upon the CLINICAL picture, not just the results of a specific test. This is such a key point: LYME IS SUPPOSED TO BE DIAGNOSED AND TREATED CLINICALLY. The CDC criteria which so many people wrongly assume is diagnostic criteria is actually the guidelines for REPORTING the prevalence to the CDC. The " bar " is set artificially high so that there is NO QUESTION that those cases reported to the CDC are in fact, true positive Lyme diagnoses. The CDC themselves readily admit that there are many more cases which do not fit the artificially high criteria that are indeed, true cases of Lyme - one estimate I read from the CDC themselves was 10X more actual cases than meet the current criteria for reporting! I've attached a link for a huge site for Lyme Disease in Texas created by the one and only Art D. (Thanks Art, from the Heart!). And another good site from ask NOAH. This should keep you busy for quite some time. <evil grin> http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Oasis/6455/texas-links.html http://www.noah-health.org/english/illness/lyme/lyme.html#Editor The Woodlands is a beautiful and rather exclusive area - you are lucky to moving there instead of Houston proper - which most Texans consider to be the anal opening of the Great State of Texas. OK now, this is YOUR MOTHER TALKING.........what'cha gonna do to take care of yourself and survive all this stress? You need a plan. Delegate everything that you can. Lower expectations of yourself - what's more important.........a clean house or some quality time with your family. Hire help if you can. Stick to what has been working for you - don't abandon all the positive healing strategies you've developed so far - you need them more than ever right now. Eat well, get plenty of rest...............'nuff said? Again, welcome to our group. NurseDeb
