Guest guest
Joann, I don't think there is a mean person in this group; noone is saying that we don't feel for you and understand totally what it is like. I hope what I said did not offend you; noone is saying we don;t believe you; all we are saying is that it could possibly be an infection and that antibiotics will help. We have all been diagnosed with everything under the sun except lyme and maybe babesia. I was told I had fibro and nonspecific arthritis and I needed to see a shrink and get on antidepressants, but we all know our bodies and to be sick so long I would imagine is horrible. I needed to know what was wrong with me and I would not stop until I found out, but I had to do it on my own and pay for everything too. BUT, I am getting better. 10 months so far of all different ABs but the pains are gone!. We are only trying to help and we are all supportive, . We get frustrated because so many people go undiagnosed and untreated and there is no need for that. Hope you are feeling better and stay on-some interesting info is passed on. Guest guest
I have been on antibiotics each time I have had a tick bite in the last few years..and as I have stated many times..I do not have the symptoms that I read here..and there has been no change in my symptoms, except they move around, in the last 65 years..so I do not feel i have Lyme..and I am grateful that after all these years I have something with a name to it..but dr. which I am losing after 25 years believes in lyme and has treated me with antibiotics with each tick bite..and is concerned but knows that I have not changed in all these years..i still just hurt all over..a typical Fibro. symptom, I also had an uncle (a doctor) with all the same symptoms..it runs in our family..as does many other arthritises. The human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it. C.

Guest guest
I was told to divorce my husband. If I didn't, my psychiatrist would refuse to treat me anymore (and made good on the promise). That was 5 years ago, 2 months before my Lyme diagnosis and ' eventual diagnosis. I now have a good psychiatrist, a good neurologist (LLMD), and a good psychologist (who disagreed with the original psychiatrist's "opionion" at the time). Guest guest
Hi ,Unfortunately, this is the problem when doctors hold themselves up so high. This guy was recommended for years by my psychologist (the one that disagreed with him) as one of the best in treating bipolar. I had had a couple of "real" quacks before who overdosed me with megadoses of Lithium. His medication management was good, and I saw him for many years. He showed his true colors, though, as and I both started developing the neurological symptoms of Lyme (well before we ever heard of it). Divorcing him wouldn't have stopped the "train wreck" for either one of us, and I consider us lucky to have each other (though it "ain't" been easy for either one of us) during these past 5 years. He even threatened to have me committed to a mental institution. Obviously, the problem needed more than Lithium. I can't even take Lithium anymore because of all the other medications, and I have done well enough (though not perfect) with the antibiotics. My current psychiatrist will not even put me on Lithium now, even though I have asked her when things have gone a bit screwy. She has kept up on all the Lyme literature available to psychiatrists since our diagnosis and knows and respects our LLMD well. Guest guest
Rose, as implied, perhaps that quack psychiatrist's demand that you divorce was a blessing in disguise; you now are being treated by a good and helpful physician. I bet a lot of us have old war stories about outrageous comments, suggestions, and " diagnoses " we've gotten from various docs through the years. --charlotte
