I’m sorry your are in so much pain.

I’m not medically trained but it sounds to me like it is some kind of

nerve involvement. The kind of pains you are describing are ones I associate

primarily with nerves so maybe you should see a neurologist for a nerve

conduction study. I may be way off base on this but I suggest you talk it over

with either your rheumatologist or your GP. God bless.

Subject:

Flare up?

As most of you know I'm a 26 year old female with RA

(diagnosed

approx. 2 years ago)

well let me explain something I'm feeling and please give me your

thoughts/advise on it...

earlier this week I got this shooting pain IN my right elbow.. when i

say IN I mean IN... then my right wrist starts hurting, my fingers

(on my right hand) and even in the middle on my hand on the top, like

in the bones ya know?, now my right shoulder and even my right knee...

thankfully i had an appointment already with my rhematologist this

week but when I saw him the pain had subsided.. but today it was back

with a vengence!... certain movements.. i sweat it was just agony..

something I never felt before.. like I wanted to keep my arm as still

as possible..

he said it was probably just a flare up..

now I'm usually just achy all the time.. and once in a while i will

get a lot of pain in one area or another... but why my whole RIGHT

side? It is truly making things unbearable..

how long to episodes like this usually last?

Hello Gril , Well it doesn't sound like normal RA pain to me either , I have many bone spurs from OA and when they effest my nevers or get them imflamed I often have thes type of pains in the same areas you are describeing , ( but keep inmind we are all differant and this could have nothing to do with you , your dr is best to check you and find out the cause ) but mine normaly last a couple weeks or a little longer if I don't go get meds to help hurry it along . But yes I tend to hold my arm in the tipacal sling position like if it's broken LOL the nerves tend to rub on the spurs and get imflamed or " sometimes just get impinged which is a more constant pain " but again this is common to me and my body but I wanted to let you know what causes it for me ,,,, hope you feel better soon . Oh yes a nuroloigist is who you need to see

It's funny you say that becuase thats what my mother said and she has

Lupus so she knows what the pains are like..

do you have any idea what would cause such a thing? When I mentioned

it to my Rheumy he just said it sounded like a flare up.. so i dont

know?--

so tell me more about how the nerves and the arthritis MAY go

together, this is all a learning experience for me.. like this

morning, I am OK. not fine, but OK>. i have more normal aches, like

when it feels like you have to crack your neck/nuckles, things like

that.

see its weird.. my dr. was rated the best in his field many years in

a row in the metropolitan area... he is cited for so many great

things.. and when I told him, he immediately started feeling my arms

and stuff but said it sounds like a flare up... so now I'm all

confused.

I don't doubt him for a minute, he's been treating my mom for over 20

years. But this nerve stuff doesnt sound good.
