For the past 7 days, the donations to the HLDF have slowed pretty drastically. With Lobby Day work, and everything else we all have going on, it may be that we all just had a bit much to do, so it hasen't been on top. Please reiterate this need to everyone you know. A primary way to have this build again more quickly is to send letters and emails to everyone you know. We need as much help as we can get. The Lobby will occur on March 27th, and this is very important but IT WILL NOT stop the need to build the HLDF. With an April date for Dr. H's hearing, we need to really get this going. I know it is hard to ask other for something, but I have found some comfort in knowing that it is not just me that I am asking for. You don't know who will be infected with this terrible illness, and we cannot afford to loose any LLMD, especially those who have been so involved in being at the forefront of this battle (such as Dr.H. and Dr. B.) I believe that in asking others, we are helping to protect the future of all from this travesty. It could well be that others whom you contact may directly benefit from this in the future. Please help to get the message out on the boards, to your family, friends and anyone you think may participate. In additon to these letters, see these important and wonderful fundraising projects below. I have used some of them AND ALSO did the letters. My mother donated to the fund: I then needed a gift, so I ordered pepi's chocolate for starters. This way the fund recieved the full donation from my mother, and another partial donation from me via pepi. I'd rather have the profits go in part to the HLDF and some to Pepi, than to Godiva! (nothing against Godiva) Sincerely, Regina (neurochem1@a... This Site is a MUST! Kay's website (http://lymedisease.50megs.com/index.html) On this site are several projects for defense funds. The Monster Tag Sale in Englishtown, New Jersey, Pepi's Chocolates and Cookies, Brite's Lymeawareness Products, Sally's Special Diet Goodies, Paypal signup, suggestions for how to raise funds with little cost and energy, click through- lots of information; all for raising money for the Defense Funds. This site is a must visit; it's a one stop shop for all the above, with background information, and links to other important sites. ------------------------------------------------ -------------- Also: New Info on Kay's Site: Avon for Fundraising Francine (Btygirl1@a...) is using her online Avon Access site, and is donating her profit from any orders to the defense fund. She has asked that you browse the manual online, and email her to place an order. Presently, she can have orders emailed to her, and a check can be sent to her. The more orders she received, the higher commission Avon pays, 40% goes to defense funds. To Access her site, please go to http://hometown.aol.com/btygirl1/myhomepageindex.html From Francine: Anyone can go to my website and look thru the Avon brochure on line then email me with the orders so I can process them. My Avon page they will need my phone # (908)389-1897 and passcode which is anewyou. Everyone will need this to search the brochure. This is the easiest way for me to do this at this time, and probably the fastest way to get funds. I could place the orders then people can pay me. Then I will ship. I will probably get set up with paypal or something. I do intend on 40% earnings to go directly to the HLDF. Beauty boutique try this link to the website then when on my site at AOL there is a link to get to my Avon page while there to browse the brochure on line you have to hit " order " on top of the page this is when they ask a few questions and ask for a passcode and telephone # given above. This is just to browse. Please send actual orders to me. Please Remember to Contact Francine Directly by email to order. To prevent a hyperlink appearing, here's her email address in long form (btygirl1 at aol . com) Finally, this idea done by another in our community has been posted: I have a small idea on how to raise $$ for our LLMDs. I'm sure all of us can relate to the lyme symptom of " draining the pocketbook, " whether it is from the huge medical bills and/or the inability to work. What I have been doing to make a little extra money is selling my used books, movies and CD's on half.com. It is not hard to do and you don't have to pay anything for listing (you don't need to post pictures or know a little html like on ebay). You just have to give an honest description of the condition the item is in. If your item sells you wrap it up and mail it out the next business day. ( I wrap in cardboard and a brown bag...cheap! but it does the job) You are reimbursed for shipping and depending on how much you sell, your check from half.com will come (the latest) in a month or two. I find it to be a welcome way to ease up the clutter. I have sold all of my VHS tapes that I have bought on DVD. For all of you who have a CD burner: Do you have a bunch of CD's with only a song or 2 that you like? Put only the songs you like on a CD-R. Sell the originals. Make some space and money. You can also sell videogames. Prices depend on how many of your items are listed. Do a search for your item you want to sell. See what others are listed for and decide if you would be willing to sell for the same price or less. I used this money to contribute to the LLMDs funds. If you are well enough to go to the post office and have some stuff you want to get rid of this is an option for you. Every little bit helps. Thanks for reading! xxx -------------------------------------------------- --------------------- I hope you can find some good use in these items above. Every bit does help, and there is no contribution too small. While it is best to send donations directly to the defense fund, the above projects provide items that some may need or want, and certain portions of your orders go to the HLDF/BLDF. Please don't forget emailing and writing letters to others you know to ask for participation in donating.
