Guest guest
Maybe you're doctor is afraid to use IV antibiotics? Doctors here in Oregon get flagged and then investigated when they use IV. The docs who do still have Lyme patients in this state never use IV. Maybe you're doctor simply disagrees with Fallon? Many doctors simply don't believe research statistics. That's the reason Steere's 3 - 4 weeks of antibiotics theory is still "the standard". Doctors refuse to believe legitimate science. Then again there is also a lot of illegitimate science out there. It's hard to be upset with a cautious doctor. Maybe there's something that I haven't thought of? Did you're doctor give you a specific reason for not prescribing IV? If not, call him up and ask for a specific reason. Be sure to tell him that this is the method you want to pursue. Then, and I hate to say this as much as you hate to hear it, maybe you need to find another doctor. I don't know this doc so I don't know his reasons. I think IV is a good and safe thing to do. The hard part is finding a doc to prescribe it and then an insurance company to pay for it. (Maybe this doc hates filling out all the paperwork an insurance company requires for IV?) What has become so very clear to me since being diagnosed, is that we must be vigilant about our own health care. If you want IV, and you believe you should have IV, I think it's best to find a doctor willing to work with you. But, in light of what is happening to Dr. Burrascano, it will be harder to find a doctor willing to go "out on a limb" and prescribe IV. I so wish I had better answers for you. Robynn [ ] SPECT improvement This is a basic question. A recent article posted here quoted dr. Fallon as saying that SPECT scan results do improve with only IV antibiotics, not orals. He was very specific about that. Now, I have a bad SPECT scan, why does my new doc prescribe orals? Is this not stupid. It has been proven at Columbia that the brain is only helped with IV. How can anyone in this situation be denied enough IV till their brain is clear. Is this not basic comon sense. Why does my doc ignore this simple fact when I show the research to him? Are our brains being sacrificed for the sake opf the cost of IV therapy? Why dont doctors treat based on the research results?AM i missing something?world
Guest guest
Hi, mine didnt improve much on IV, will need a vasodilator type med. Diamox showed that these type meds will work. But for the IV, didnt touch much of it...and there were a few types administered. IV wont always solve the vasculitis problem. Sorry to say, causing most of my symptoms I believe, Lyme related. Guest guest
Intramuscular (IM) antibiotics work the same as IV, though the dosage cannot go as high. With LabCorp coverage, I used up lifetime IV coverage in 28 days. First Health has never covered IV for or me. It is easier to get a prescription for the same dosage of IM and go to the doc or give them yourself . Read Dr. Burrascano's text on this subject. Parenteral therapy refers to IM or IV. Both are agents capable of penetrating the blood-brain barrier and finding their way into cells and tissues. Has worked for me over 5 years now.Rose in Euless, Texas (D/FW Area) and/or Robynn <nebneb@...> wrote: Maybe you're doctor is afraid to use IV antibiotics? Guest guest
Hi Bill, Do you think vitamin E might help some? Isn't this a problem with blood vessels getting damaged? Guest guest
Hi Alice, welcome back! I have been taking vitamin E for some time now, but the vasculitis in my case is in the brain with constriction of small blood vessels all throughout the brain and caused by infection (Lyme) in my case. Lyme vasculitis holds a distinct pattern on SPECT scan. Other causes may be autoimmune in some, as in Lupus. There are meds that will help open up these vessels, the last scan determined this. Some irreversible damage has occured, mainly to my optic nerves. But also some small areas in the brain. Will wait and see how things transpire now, take care....Bill [ ] SPECT improvement > > >> >>This is a basic question. Guest guest
Thanks for explaining this further to me. I often see wavy lines and purple flashing lights. They tell me this is migraine and " optic " migraine but sometimes I don't have a headache. Do you know what kind of drugs they put you on to help this?
