I'm hoping to get on it through the company itself. My rheumy says that they are very generous to people who have no insurance. Hi ,

I had just heard about the pen when I found out that I was pregnant! I

will definetely try it once I deliver. I think it can only be better,

so it's definetely worth a try! Fortunetly for me thus far, I've been

able to skip taking my Humira without any reprocussions (yet). I'm now

7 weeks pregnant and *crossing fingers* so far so good.

My Dr. had told me that since so many women go into a remission like

state that she wanted me to try to spread out my injections, to

basically try to use it just as needed until we could see if I was one

of those lucky ones. And so far so good, I haven't taken another shot

since, and arthritis wise, I haven't felt better in a long time.

The pen is something I definetely look forward too though upon

delivery because I know that i will have to quickly get back on meds.

My dr. did say she normally doesn't reccomend breast feeding so that

you can get right back on the meds before that big flare occurs- I

think the pen will take a little of the fear away of actualy sticking

myself like an actual shot. I never had been able to do it myself yet.

I had been on Humira almost 4 months when i found out that I was

pregnant.

Glad to here things are going so well, . I didn't feel I'd be able to get

off

the Humira in pregnancy, because I was feeling some pain throughout. I am

definitely not breastfeeding due to all the medication I must take. Its a

disappointment because I did want to at least try it, but a mother who is

healthy is more important than anything!

My latest batch of humira arrived in the pen version and I tried it Tuesday. It did burn less but I didn't like the action of the needle entering my body. It felt too forceful somehow. I had no problem giving myself the shot and the needle never hurt going in but this felt more like a jab. Maybe it was me and my first time and the fact that the nurse gave me instructions on the phone but didn't do it with me the first time like she did with the needle. I'll try again in two weeks.

I usually get three months of meds (cheaper that way from my insurance) but they only sent two months this time. So I'll see after the 6 injections and decide whether to stick with the pen (so to speak) or ask if I can go back to the needle.

It's also a lot of plastic and that bothers me (since you can't really recycle it).On 8/10/06, <

Thanks, . I would definitely like something that burns less, I feel like I

am going to pass out from the pain every time. I do leave it out a half an hour

as has been suggested, the hints about turning the shot or the ice has not

worked for me either.

Did you request the pen or did it just come like this?

The pens just came. I was off humira for about a month - we didn't refill the prescription until I could get an MRI and see if there was any joint damage. If there was joint damage then he was going to change meds but since the MRI was clear they re-ordered humira. I'm not sure if my insurance prefers the pen or if I have a choice. As I said, I'll keep using it and if I still don't like it I'll find out if I can go back to the needle. If I get used to it then I suppose I'll stay. It does bother me that there's so much more plastic on it and it can't be recycled - it seems so wasteful.

I realized that I had less burning with the needles if I left it out 15 min- 30 min and if the alcohol had completely dried before I gave myself the shot. If the area was still a little wet from the cleaning, it seemed to hurt more. Not sure if that was just my imagination or what!
