Guest guest
I would not disclose my RA on a job interview as it may prejudice them. I do not believe you have any legal obligation to do so, and I believe it is none of their business. I would go on the interview and then evaluate the position. How far is it from your home? Will a long commute exhaust you? Try to find out what the hours are, i.e., ask what a typical day might be. If the hours are excessive, employers may bring this up to you in the interview. Could you handle long hours or would this exacerbate your RA? If you get an offer, then I would make sure your RA meds are covered under the company's insurance. I am currently miserable in my job but it is 15 minutes from my home and I leave every day at 5:00. I really do need to leave but I am scared about my RA worsening should I take a job with greater stressors. > > I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. I am currently job hunting. Guest guest
IF your job application asks if you have any medical conditions, you'll have to tell them. And if your condition places limits on what you can do on the job, I guess you'll have to tell them about that too. Good luck in your job search... Guest guest
Dear NY- If you feel your dependability will be an issue, or the job has physically demanding requirements, then you should disclose your condition but usually, a dont ask, dont tell policy is in effect. You can say you do have RA but that it is in remission and you feel confident you can manage the aspects of the job without a problem.
